Psilocybe Weilii Finds? If not, GET OUT THERE!
    #5790238 -

Hey guys, just motivating people to get out there and start looking.

Currently it's 8pm on the 25th of June; outside are optimal growing conditions for a relatively new psychoactive mushroom quickly gaining popularity due to the documentation of some great souls out there with the intent to spread the natural beauty of this mushroom to the shroomery, and other communities.

Expect the prime pick time to be between the 28th and 30th of June, calculated upon years of not only my personal experience in following this species but also others like phishhead.

Don't rely too much on the Fall. Weilii are not really a seasonal mushroom per-say due to its limited range it doesen't need to follow a guide as extensive as 365 day averages that depict patterns of weather conditions. Weilii will fruit whenever there has been 3-5 days of moderate rains with a degree of dark skies (over-cast) and temperatures ranging from 50 to 88 degrees.

The biggest mistake new hunters make is going out too soon. Weilii take time to grow to sizes able to spot in their dense habitat. Once you see one huge developed Weilii (takes days to grow this size), you'll be amazed to find out just how camoflauged these guys can be.

For more information visit the comprehensive journal of my hunts, aswell as others at www.weilii.com

I was chased by haitians in the main city charlotte amalie when my girlfriend and I got some cocaine for free in a bar and mixed it with alcohol, to form a stronger drug. With such confidence at 2am, we walked the 4-5 or so miles down to the beach where the african slaves lie like lions waiting on tourist prey.

Thanks guys, I learn something new about Weilii, and notice trends everytime I share what I know with others, just by bringing it out on paper. Let me know how your hunts go, I'm going out in 2 more days.

AND REMEMBER! TAKE PICTURES OF THEM IN THEIR NATURAL UNPICKED HABITAT! people need to have an idea of how blended these guys get.

I've been anticipating some finds this year but to no avail. I live in cobb county and would be honored to meet up with some of you for a hunt in the next few days, this overcast weather has sparked some excitement. I can provide transportation or meet up with anyone with some experience, just pm me. Thanks to all of you who have made this native species so popular

phishhead found these outside earlier this evening. Proof they're on their way up and will be out on the 29th/30th in full force. Hunt now before others do, and post pictures! This is probably the last flush youll see until the fall season. I could be wrong, there might be several more but this is definitely going to be a BIG flush!

Well im gonna have to apologize... My fear was realized today as I hunted for 3-4 hours to no avail... The drought we had before all the rains the past couple days prevented any kind of successful/ecstatic growth.

I guess now we all know that weilii will not grow no matter how great the rains are if there has been a dry spell preceeding it. What the rain did however do is rehydrate all the mycellium so that the following rains could have them fruit.

This reminds me exactly of what happened last season, it rained very hard for 3 days but it was right after a long drought. I hunted for hours then too with no finds.

My lesson learned: Weilii will fruit when it rains for a few days but only if the mycellium is already hydrated from previous rains.

OK, heads up on what to look for: Lobblolly pine trees are the ones with the long needles that grow everywhere around here. These trees are what the weilii love, and they will even grow right under them on the ground.

Next thing to look for is in bermuda or fescue grass. Bermuda is the short grass in the more commercial neighborhoods, its a tuber grass and will run along the ground to spread(is also the grass that turns brown during the winter).
Fescue is the long bladed grass that grows in tufts when not manicured, both types of grass they will grow in. Alot of times i find them in the longer stretches of grass where you can tell the rain runs off down the hill. Pinestraw beds are also a great place to find them, just look for lumps in the pinestraw and investigate them all and alot of times they will be hiding under there. If you do find a patch under the pinestraw, be careful where you walk for they are very hard to spot and you also want to be careful not to damage the mycelium while walking in the bed itself.

When looking for patches, you want to look for a neighborhood that is between 3 and 12 years of age, is fairly well kept and has the right type of grass(mostly look for brmuda, their easier to spot sometimes growing above the grass line), I also look very well around patches that i already have established. Youd be surprised how many more you will find within a 1 or 2 mile radius. good luck and ill be happy to help with any other tips or questions...

great info for the new guys.
Far as my end of the road goes, "Win-the-Ward Parkway" was empty, I hit up the two best spots there, to no avail.
I bet your spots down in woodstock/roswell are gonna bust out a bit, so I'll wait for your pics.
Unfortunately there is no rain in the near future, and not a lot of mushrooms to show.
I did find a few fruits, LBMS mostly, even the Subbs were a no show.

RIght now, I bet it's all about the cubes, but those places are so hard to find.

I found 2 weilii in Powder Springs today, one ~1&1/2 days old and the other 2-3 days old. Pics soon to come.
Seeing that these 2 specimens were from different generations, I look forward to another potential generation to come (as unrealistic as it actually is).

The most important thing to do right now(IMO), is check spots that would have been wet even slightly, by sprinklers, during the drought.
Otherwise, most of the networks broke off from the top layer of the soil, retreating into the damp and cooler area two inches or lower under the surface.
Just now, as I type, the networks are rejuvenating, and coming back fully alive to hopefully give us an awesome summer season,
on the surface :mushroom2:

Hopefully.

Unfortunately, I was not able to produce a spore print from the one viable mushroom that I found. Maybe it was immature? The weilii's veil is thin and drops before it reaches maturity, so it is sometimes hard to tell. Only gill color can really help you, but mature mushrooms that are waterlogged often don't have color changes in the gills (as I thought to be the case with my mushroom) until they dry out some.
Oh well, I will look for more today.
