My friend is willing to quit Opium.

Hi everyone.
My friend has been doing Opium Tea for over a year now, and he's really sick of it. He's doing humongous amounts of pods that would probably make a blue whale sick.
He's always nauseated, puking and he said it's time to quit. Can someone here please give me some good advice as to what to tell him so he can actually quit? How long will the process take til he's back to normal?
Thanks guys, I appreciate it

We'll if he actually wants to really quit, than the hardest part is over, now he just has to cope with the withdrawls, and stay away from the stuff, stay away from people doing it, stay away from people who have it around. Life is gonna suck for him for a couple of weeks give or take, just visit him whenever you can, help him get things that will curve his withdrawls, water, food, whatever he needs that isn't opium

Just basically tell him that he needs to get his shit straight, for obvious reasons. It could be a lot worse.. at least it's not a IV style opiate addiction.
The time it can take to return to normal varies... all depends on the individual and how long he has been using it. I have been through severe heroin withdrawal in the past, I've been clean for a long time now.. The really hardcore symptoms lasted over a week, but it still took like at least a month to really start feeling normal again. The little annoying feelings and sleeplessness lasted the longest. Minor aches and pains persisted for a long time.
