i was wondering the same-since i always flip my cakes in the incobater when they are about 80% done-last time i birthed with the verm layer down-i got all my pins and mushies from the verm layer-
but my lipas are just plain wacked-they grow everywhere and form tons of pins everywhere-they not very impressive with the potency though-i guess the flushes make up for the potency-
i birthed my pesa with the verm layer down-all ym mushies came from the verm layer again-
just my experiments and next time i will birth with the verm layer up-
someone told me that also if you are getting all your pins from the bottom,more than likely because thats where the humidity is highest-

I suggest you just watch the cake then adjust it's positioning so the pins are growing up.

Yes I say vermiculite side down 2 :smile: This way the water can be absorbed by the Vermiculite.

pins will tend to form on the verm cause its moist, so put some verm on top too. the pins will head towards the light source if it is directional (most of the time)
