My weekend at Download!!

So i just got back from Download 2006 yesterday and now after about 18 hours sleep im finally up and about, although still physically exhausted... I just thought i'd share with everyone what an amazingly mad weekend it was! Well, i was there for 5 days to be exact
Arrived there on Wednesday, got completely off my trolley and spent the whole next day trying to recover and rehydrate myself in the blistering heat. Then on Friday i had the pleasure of watching Soulfly perform some of the heaviest fucking shit ever to grace a live audience, including Roots Bloody Roots by Sepultura! Then it was time for Deftones who were completely mezmerising despite Chino Moreno's recent flirting with obesity. Max Cavalera came back on stage and performed "Headup" with them too! And then it was time for the mighty Tool to perform, who were excellent. Not too exciting to watch but the quality of the performance was second to none and the visual displays on screen definitely helped compensate for this. Maynard was for some reason hiding behind the drummer throughout the whole set and never went anywhere near the crowd which was a bit frustrating. Nothing that couldnt be sorted out by the army of sexy dancing burlesque girls we stumbled upon on the way back to our tent though!
Saturday i siezed the chance to watch Alice In Chains play with some dude on vocals who's name i do not know but he sounded so much like Layne Staley it was just creepy. Very powerful set and i felt privileged to watch it. Stone Sour were on next and i was really surprised at how good they were, Corey Taylor is the fuckin man! Then i found out England won their world cup match against Paraguay (woohoo!). Then Korn came on stage but Jon Davis was in hospital so they had singers from other bands fronting for them, who mostly sucked apart from Corey Taylor and Benji from Skindred, who really stole the show! Korn were still heavy as fuck though and didnt play any of their shitty new songs which was a bonus. I moshed sooo hard! Then it was time for Metallica... oh my god... i dont even have the words. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Master of Puppets, they played the whole album in it's entirety!!! How many people get to witness that?! Along with other classic Tallica tunes, obviously, it was the most amazing 3 hours of music anyone could ever ask to witness. I almost broke down there and then!!
Sunday, feeling kinda rough but still marching, i went to see Skindred perform, where Benji had the crowd going nuts with his shockingly good frontman skills and cheeky Welsh banter. Then it was time for Prodigy... fuck man! That was some crazy shit... they organizers put them on the second largest stage instead of the main one (fucking idiots) and it ended up so packed out they had to try and section off that part of the arena. Didnt stop me worming my way in there though, even though i was miles away from the stage the vibe was amazing and ive never seen so many people dancing like that! People climing up the marquee supports at shocking hights to and all kinds of crazy shit going off... then after that, rolling nicely, i breezed off past Guns n Roses performing a lovely solo in the main arena to a smaller tent where i saw Sick Of It All completely demolish their audience in what was the most hardcore fucking pit i've ever seen! A circle pit that would make hardened Slayer fans suck their thumbs, followed by making the whole audience spread right out and then smash into each other from all directions in the center of the floor, like some kind of metalhead demolition derby, it was immense!!
Then we rounded off the weekend with a good old fashioned bit of British rioting and tribal drumming round the various blazing infernos which spontaneously erupted all over the venue, punctuated by drugs, explosions and failed attempts by the police to keep things under control!
It really was one of the craziest weekends of my life and i've walked away with a big smile on my face, a sense of well being and memories that money simply can't buy. Well, unless you're willing to fork out £150 for a ticket that is!
Anyways, to anyone who read this far i apologise if i've bored you, i just had to share my excitement with someone and get that out of my system!

Man, that sounds awesome.
Also, instead of Chino "flirting with obesity," think of it as "maybe he finally beat his fucking coke habit"...
Better that he be a little chubby during a performance than coked out beyond recognition, aye?

Chino was a cokehead? I never knew about that... where did you hear about this? Can you provide any links please coz i cant seem to find any thanks... I'd heard he apparently had a drinking problem but i thought that was it. Anyway, yeah he definitely performed much better that he did when i saw one of their live shows on MTV2 a while back. None of the bands i saw failed to impress!

Well, to be honest, it's just kind of a inkling I've always had. I highly doubt you'll find a link to evidence, as I don't think he's been brought up on charges for it or anything.
That being said... their music is loud, hard, and fast. One of their albums is called "White Pony" which is a known slang for cocaine. (Ride the white pony!)
Being a long-time fan, there have been other things in their lyrics and song titles that made me think the same. (though I can't say I recall any others right now.)
So yeah. I just think it's kind of a given.
I could be wrong. It happened once before.
