Serotonin and 'shrooms

I realize this is probably the wrong place for this discussion, but I'm new, and try as I might, I couldn't figure out what a better place would be. Suggestions for the appropriate place for this kind of discussion would be appreciated.
I recently saw (first somewhere on shroomery and then) on the wikipedia page for "Psychedelic mushroom" that psilocybin and/or psilcin are believed to be similar to the neurotransmitter serotonin. I have always avoided ecstasy because i have heard that since it works be making more serotonin in your brain, it can make your brain stop producing serotonin in the long run and cause depression. Has anyone ever heard any similar warnings about shrooms?
Not to sound like a blubbering vagina. Thanks in advance.

Ecstasy does not actually make more serotonin, all it does is release a lot of it into your synapse. Also from what I have researched, heavy MDMA usage will not stop serotonin production but rather cause serotonin receptors on the dendrites to recede and by this prevent released serotonin molecules from attaching themselves to these receptors.
I believe this to be correct, if not please object. I find MDMA to be a very interesting drug.

MDMA causes serotonin to be released and also causes the reuptake receptors, which usually remove serotonin if enough of a good time is being had, to not do their job. So the synapse is flooded with serotonin and the serotonin receptors work overtime. This depletes the brain's supply of serotonin (demonstrably in the short term and possibly permanently in the long term) and may eventually have a detrimental effect on the receptors themselves. So the worry with prolonged MDMA use is that damage is being done to the brain's serotonin systems.
Many entheogens are believed to work by mimicking serotonin molecules and by bonding with serotonin receptors in interesting and unusual parts of the brain. Release of the brain's serotonin is not being directly stimulated and I've seen no suggestion that the serotonin receptors are being overused to anywhere near the point where they'd be damaged.
So, given that possibly flawed understanding and given that I'm neither a doctor, brain chemist nor qualified psychonaut, I'd say you don't have to worry about serotonin system damage if you're doing 'shrooms.
