This film contains a discussion about death, remains, and memorial ritual where Thompson describes his desires on the topic and Ralph Steadman draws-up a sketch of the elaborate fixtures involved. It is this dialog & set of drawings which 27 years later informed Thompson's actual memorial service.

Synopsis:

Long time friend and illustrator of several Thompson articles & books Ralph Steadman travels with a BBC film crew to Colorado to reunite with and record Thompson. The visit includes interviews, hanging at the ranch, and a partial retrace of the rollicking 1971 Rolling Stone press assignment to Las Vegas that eventually became the book "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream".

this was on the criterion release of the DVD, if anyone has that already. what I'd really like to see is a huge HST torrent of all the interviews and videos etc of him over the years. I was watching the bonus feautres on my breakfast with hunter dvd, and he said he (at that time...around 98) had just once again found the audio tape from his trip to las vegas, where him and his attorney were driving out in the desert. I can only dream that'll be released by his wife one day. she's putting out abunch of footage of home videos etc to a bunch of people over the coming years, and there's a decent handful of HST documentaries/films coming out in the next 2-3 years.
