Proposed grow-chamber
    #569945 - 03/04/02 10:46 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

This is my proposed grow-chamber. I've never grown mushrooms and I've never seen anything like it, so I'm thinking that it won't work. Also, if it does work, I need suggestions about exhaust. It needs exhaust but i've exhausted my supply of ideas.

most sincerely,

I am certainly a jackass, so I guess I will respond. It looks good to me...as far as ventilation goes...my suggestion would be to punch a hole or two in the bottom of the tub (above the water level, of course & on the opposite side of the air pump) for the C02 to escape.

ok. i am most certainly a jackass.

I haven't touched or seen geolite. I assume it works like perlite.... a very porous substance that wicks the water up and encourages evaporation due to the extreme surface area of the substance. If that's the case, your design won't work because the water isn't in contact with the geolite. But hey, I don't know much about this geolite stuff.

Also, you may want a more radical slant to the plexiglass drip lid. It will keep the condensation sliding to the edges and safely into the bottom pool without falling down on your cakes or casings.

also, if you can keep your cakes up high (like a foot above the bottom, then you will have less problem with the CO2 covering them-- it will fall down below them and you can fan it away very easily.

good luck!!!

You know this hobby may take more patients than you have. Maybe huffing Pam through a dirty sock is more your speed!

It could easily be 2 months until you see the fruits of your labor.
Be patient holms, all good things come to those who wait.
