covert grow chamber

Hey, my friend wanted me to post what his new setup is going to be. He wanted to get all your opinions on it. so here it goes.

He has a bed frame that is solid wood all the way around with two big dresser droors*sp?* He is going to cut out the droors and liquid nails the facing in or something similar. Then he will cut out a 3footx3foot *might go bigger* square in the top of the frame. This hole will be replaced with a MDF*medium density fiberboard* lid with a rectangular peice of glass built into it so you can look down into the grow box.

The grow chamber itself will also be made out of MDF. He will tightly cover the mdf with heavy duty trash bags or something similar, and silicone the box together. now we have a "under-the-bed" grow box 3'x3'x16".

For humidity he is going to run a vick cool mist humidifier *v400* with about 2 feet of garden hose. The hose will ran in a slanted upward spiral as read in a mycotopia tek into the box, this way the excess moister flows back into the cool mister and it isnt too humid in the box. he is also going to have several co2 outlets on the box so he can change the ammount of humidity as desired.

There is going to be a indoor/outdoor thermo/hygrometer set up with the unit itself inside the fruiting chamber and the wired sensor will be run into a seperate mdf incubation box that will also be located in the bed frame.

Finaly there will be a third mdf box inside the frame which he will place a fan inside it so he has a drying chamber.

Now here are his questions: Is there another equaly cheap material he could use to make the box other then mdf with trash bags on it? Would it be safe to use a waterproofing finish of sorts on the mdf instead of the trash bags?
Do you think if he were to install a fish tank flourescent light on the lid of the grow box he would risk catching his bed on fire? *lol*

Do you think this is a good idea for a complete covert grow system?
any other ideas/comments are very welcome
