Adults, What do we all do for a living?

As the subject states.
It is a misconception that individuals who experiment with psychodelics tend to mimic the characters of "cheech and chong".
Although psychodelics can teach us to see passed the "typical mindset" of the world. Including all its shallowness and negativity (leading to a hippie-like attitude), nothing makes me happier than seeing intelligent/open minded people educate the world on the proper uses and benefits of certain "drugs".
Im sure many doctors, scientists, teachers, engineers, farmers, mechanics, lawyers, truck drivers, ETC ETC (aka valuable members of society, regardless of class/financial security) are active trippers (whether it be once a year, once a month, or once eveyr 10 years).
So who are we?

Currently studying to get into medicine. Ideally I'd like to be a surgeon or a coroner. Failing that I have plenty of knowledge on computers, etc and would probably look at becoming a software designer or something along those lines.
I spent all my highschool years getting high, both on and off weekends, and I still managed to work my ass off when I had to and keep my goals as a top priority and it worked out for me... No idea what all this "DRUGS WILL MAKE YOU FAIL!" talk is about... Personally I think it's just a way for people who got lazy and decided to do nothing bt get high to blame something other than themselves.

Well im no highschiil kid but you sound like the 5-0 too. An internet site based on ruling out the misinformtion and keeping the readers safe, ide say that alone is being a productive part of society.
Other than that, I work construction, I build, refrunish, and restore houses (including log cabins), I'm also a landscaper (not licensed quite yet - soon), and I'm also being payed to take care of a few gardens, since I got a mad green thumb.
What are you?

Wow, im surprised that everyone is so paranoid. I dont see how asking what you people do for a living is "5-0". To me it was more like trying to prove that the #z are wrong, and that the majority of trippers are educated individuals.
and for what i do.....i already stated, i currently work for an import/export-freight/shipping company while studying to be an audio engineer. The pay will most likely be much less, but id rather do something that makes me happy.

lol im not a highschool kid, I just graduated actually. I just don't like when ppl ask for information on the net, especially illeagle drug forums. But anyway, since you asked, I am a computer programmer.
^ps. by asking random questions like these under various screen names, one can gather enough information needed to track someone down. Is this the case in this thread? doubt it. Is it possible? very much so.

Well... Technically they could probably use this information combined with hints people have dropped to their general location to narrow it down to a list of people in your area as suspects. But I really couldn't see them doing this unless they suspect that you're growing and supplying other people with it. I'm sure it would take far too much time, effort, and resources just to crack down on one person who likes to smoke bud this way. If you're really worried the answer (IMHO) is simple. Be careful what you say, don't make it sound like you grow and deal (personally I'd say don't deal all together, FAR too many risks involved for far too little profit). If you chose to do either of these then just watch what you say, don't drop hints to your area (such as "last night I went to this concert by such and such band!", etc). Me thinks everyone's being a little paranoid...

I really can't understand what an audio engineer engineers...
do they just design sound systems for particular locations? (educated about acoustic energy, interference, etc?) do they actually do amplifier design? (fundamental electronics?)
or is it just a new fangled type of technition with a stretched title?
(like a sales engineer)
I'm an electrical engineer myself, still in school... fourth year of a five year program.

You don't have much to brag about there... it's high school... there's essentially no correlation between highschool and university marks...
I graduated highschool with a 67% and my university GPA was 4.15 (90%-95%) since day one.
I know too many vice versa's to count.
If you want to show you're intelligent, brag about something intelligent you did, not the number the government babysitter put on your classification paper...
for example... perhaps you are capable of graduate level chemistry due to peripheral (drug site) reading... or maybe you can backflip a bmx... or maybe you know 8 programming languages...
heh, it's funny because I posted this reply to give you a heads up about the huge change coming in your life... but really I just seem like I'm trying to put you down.

I'm a one man IT department for a 50 agent real estate office. Maintain printers and servers(mail and web), update websites, help people with photoshop-type tasks, install new office tech like flat screens in the lobby, you name it. Most of my time gets spent helping agents do really stupid crap like open email attachments, but I always have plenty of time for surfing sites like shroomery.org!
I also do a lot of work with Traditional Chinese Medicine(herbs mostly), and I dabble in electronic music production.

I...
I am in Highschool, still, and go to the college.
That's right, bitches, I'm in Highschool.
I slack-off too much, but when not slacking, I am most definitely informing people about drugs.
My favorite people to inform are professional people in their 40s who like to drink and have this inculcated idea about drugs; they're generally bad.
Not to sound arrogant or anything, but within my local community's societal structure, especially at the teenage level, I'm known for being a strong proponent of psychedelics, and for being, basically, the drug-information guru.
I do a fair amount of psychedelics, I eat Psilocybin mushrooms when they pop up in SWIM's little cool-whip containers, and make no efforts to conceal my love and admiration of LSD.
I love to incorporate scientific terminology into my statements, even when the statements are directed at individuals whom I am certain will not understand that said scientific terminology.
I consider a lot of my 'ranting and raving' to be "practice," because unfortunately not many people really do understand what I'm talking about, something which can probably be attributed to the age group I commonly converse with. --At least I'm getting practice for when I "have" to discuss new advancements at some convention.
I am always willing to discuss (typically proceeds into a debate) my drug use, and I have crazy theories surrounding my drug use... which I will not hesitate to break into with lengthy detail. (The possibility that we are biologically programmed to seek out alternative forms of experiencing 'reality,' and consciousness..., and how, basically, taking drugs is just a more direct form of 'neurochemical modulation,' which is the action(s) which produce -ALL- feelings. Whether this said modulation be achieved through excersize and nostalgia within a sport such as Baseball, or achieved by a more direct means such as psychoactive compound-consumption.)
Once again, not trying to sound arrogant, but I am arguably one of the most intelligent kids within my immediate region.
I've become accustomed to the "blank-faced countenance" that usually occurs after some "smart-kid" subtly asserts his intellectual prowess as he refers to the predisposition that I, being a profuse drug user, must be less intelligent than he...
Sorry, let me cut away that wondrous barrier of self-restraint which contains my bullshit ego from exuding forth copious amounts of self-absorbed praise...
If you measure intelligence by the criteria of one's ability to 'receive, interpret and project' data, I have yet to find anyone my age who is as "intelligent" as I am, even as I wade through the hoarde of anti-drug nerdy types.
Well, actually there isn't a "hoarde" of them, perhaps they can be better catagorized as seperate, yet collective little groups of the socially inept.
So, basically, even though I may perpetuate the theory that drug users and lazy and lethargic characters, I certainly do not contribute to the "theory" that drug users are stupid.
-Other than being a High school student, once I have beaten back the slackeritis, I would like to pursue my interests in Neuroscience and genetics--hopefully become a leading expert in the field of 'Neurogenetics,' in addition to being a bad-ass in Neuroscience and Genetics/biological engineering.
I guess it doesn't matter that this entire text was a shitty self-proclaimation of brilliance, because the size of this said text should initially drive the reader away!

Herbus: You're smart, no doubt. But don't get caught up in "being the best". Most people on top are foolish yes-men, and you will not get to the top without being that way. Most of our most brilliant minds in history were outcasts and criminals, like Socrates for example. Maybe history is going in a new direction, humanity definitely is. All I'm saying is don't let your ego hold you back. Love and generosity will make your life valuable, not competition and winning. Try to help people, even if it means letting them think you are stupid.

I'm still a student, but.
- just finished 3rd year of Univ with a 3.88GPA
Previous jobs have included
- Contract developer for a school board and helped develop software that did the timetabling for the entire school board, and a number of other spiffy apps (did that in grade 10 actually)
- Worked as a Web Developer, and have created things ranging from Content Management Systems, hotel/reservation booking systems, online contests/surveys, and helped create training software (that a friend of mine used when he got a job at the place I made it for, neat!)
- Worked as a Jr. Developer at a major publication in my area, projects ranged from research and development of an enterprise wide portal system, migrating from an Oracle database system to a MS SQL, QA and Unit testing, etc.
Now, I'm currently working with the city in their telecommunications department. Once I get settled in more, will be moving onto some reporting projects, looking at consolidating a number of systems, automating a few processes, etc.
With the exception of 1 job in grade 7, and one job in high school - every job I've had has been pretty 'career' oriented, my resume is starting to look rather impressive and my skill set is pretty good.
I have a partner that I live with who is a graphic designer, I get along well with my parents - we are very close, and I have a number of interests beyond drugs and psychedelics.

Basically, they are the people behind the musi cyou listen to. No matter how "good" a band is, the engineer is the one who truly makes or breaks them. Its all abtou the recording. People nowadays call this job a "producer" but its NOT. Producers dont create or edit audio, they are the ones that guide the band and create their image and stay on top of all their bussiness. Yes they sometimes mess with music creation and writing, but not really. Hip hop ruined this, these idiots program a beatbox, and call themselves "producers".
People think that a band simply plays and some assholes presses the record button. If you heard what most bands sound like before being processed (which can take months of editing, equing, filtering, compressing etc)...you would be very surprised.
Sound engineers also do studio design, live applications, etc.
Even little things like microphones make a huge difference. You need to know the dynamics of the artist your working with etc etc (i cant get into it, too lengthy). But basically, a sound engineer's title is definitly under appreciated. Behind every "artist" is a dorky techno geek who is constantly running formulas in his head, trying to figure out the best way to make the music sound its best.
Also, sound engineers/post production engineers are the ones who seamlessly intergrate audio into your favorite movies. Whether it be sound effects, or back tracking.
The simple answer, we are the guys behind the glass working the consoles and mixing boards along with the rest of the cool gizmos you find in studios.

Well for now I am going to college. Just finished my first year with a GPA of 3.72. I am going to school to be an Electrical Engineer. When I started I had the idea of focusing on digital video electronics such as video cards, monitors, tvs, etc. But I believe that I am going to change my focus to either nano technology or controls engineering.
In highschool I was a straight A student for the most part. I left with almos a 4 point. I didn't really care for school so I stopped going my junior year and decided to just take the GED. I thought that highschool was a total waste of time and did not learn anything there. I scored a 28 on my ACT and I don't really remember what my SATs were. While in highschool I was the head Web Designer for the school district's website. I also did some more web design/programming for various clients.
Through highschool I became proficient in alot of programming languages. I have learned to program in C, C++, Perl, PHP, MySQL, Java, Visual Basic, Basic, and Pascal. I was going to go to school to be a computer programmer but I decided against it because I feel that I am proficient enough and I didn't really want to go to school to learn something I already know.
I have been smoking weed since I was in 8th grade. So I think I was 12 or 13 back then. Now I smoke weed daily and trip at least once a month. I feel that shrooms have really opened my eyes to alot of things that are wrong in the world, and I am very grateful for them.
~Peace Out

man, this thread reads like a job application form.
I am currently a lazy student seeking a job in the 'shelf stacking' frontier.
but on the side (in my free time) I am a computer geek. I program in assembly(nasm), python and C.. a little bit of php. I used to do freelance penetration testing in the computer security field, and still am a very competent system admin (I use *nix and advocate bsd strongly :P).
On the self assesment.. I don't really have anything to show for my time on earth.. just a few bits of paper stating 'A' .
But then again I'm more skilled with computers than anyone I know :P

Well technically I am an adult but I just graduated high school. Commencement is tomorrow actually. Well today. In 7 hours. Anyways i Work at a grocery store now. Bitch work basically.
I am going to the state univ for chemical engineering although I have been known to be indecisive so that could change but I will most likely stick with engineering due to my skill at mathematics and the sciences. Ask me to right an English paper it will be terrible but tell me to find the derivative or integral of whatever and I am the man.

I have a job constructing and maintaining a website, this pays for the majority of my expenses. I also sell instrumentals to some local rap/hip-hop artists for extra money. Rap isn't my favorite genre of music but I'm glad to help artists out in return for a little bit of money. Doing this also keeps my music production skills constantly improving.

I'm a material engineer. Graduated from a Big Ten university a couple years ago. I made a quality effort at doing more drugs than any other college student, I set the bar "high" pretty much everyday since age 16-17. I've had so many jobs, totally loved every one of them, passed a couple drug tests. My favorite job was for 3M in research and development.
I'm a grad student now, making me a professional student, I get a decent salary and free tuition, just made PhD candidate. Won't be long before I graduate again. I have gotten something around 220 credits now, probably another 20 before I'm done.
I'll be gifted a job with the government or some big research company right after I graduate just based on my background and current research, whether I'll perform well in the real world is yet to be seen.

Currently, I'm working as a security guard for a construction site; though I just put in my two weeks notice since I'll be moving soon. I've been applying for various labour positions just so I can pull together some $$ for school - probably going to get my welding ticket, then use the $$ from that to go to school again for a degree in criminal psych or sociology, then head off to the Justice Institute for Sheriff training. I originally wanted to get into the RCMP, but as that quite conflicts with my lifestyle choices, I'll just be the pseudo-cop :p Haha So yeah, in a few years you guys might have a friend on the inside...
Though this is all if I can't get a career in music going - I'm a drummer for a band with no name.
