Mescaline Extraction from store bought cacti

So I was told that you should never eat a San Pedro bought from a store because of the pesticides and other chems that get into it. I was wondering, would an alcohol mescaline extract be sufficient to get rid of all those nasty chems that I don't wanna put into my body and leave me with some nice crystalline mescaline? If not would the acetone method get rid of the nasty's? Also any links to tried and true methods of getting the mescaline out would be much appreciated (but I'm sure I can dredge something up if not)

It's perfectly safe to eat a storebought Trichocereus pachanoi. If you suspect it has pesticides on it, wash it with soap and water before you prepare it for consumption.
This here:

Those two were bought at a target store. I cut the tops off. The tips I traded away as cuttings, the rest I prepared for consumption. The cactus tea didn't kill me. Of course, the flavor made me puke it all into the sink, but that's a problem you have to deal with no matter what. The only way to avoid that is to turn it into this:

Chemistry is your friend

I bought mine online. Bouncing Bear has nice ones. I think a few of the shroomery sponsors sell nice pedros too.

i've also been warmed about the consuption of store purchased cacti. is there not a possibility that a translocated pesticide is inside the cactus (where washing the outside would not be suffice)? who knows what was put on them, generally people don't think of them as a consumable product!

Well I know that systemic pesticides exist and are used, but I don't know very much about pesticides. I'm an organic gardener, essentially. I don't use chemicals on my plants because I'm A- too lazy and B- too cheap.
My idea of pest deterrence is misting a plant with soapy water whenever bugs start to eat it.

There are many that will warn you away from commercial cactus suppliers for using pesticides. The theory is not that one or two may have an effect, but a systemic effect over a period of long use. Pesticides cannot be expelled by your body, they build up. It is also said that if you take a store bought and keep it for a long time, new growth should be ok, but not original old growth.

Sounds like a myth to me. Chances are a nursery is only going to stock generic pesticides, i.e. ones that can be used on food producing plants as well. If they can be safely used on on anything that is a source of food, then I doubt there would be any difference when applied to cacti.

I would think an online ethno vender/Shroomery sponser would be far less likely to have used any harmful pestisides, yes?

Any suggestions on what I could maybe ask the people at the stores about the pesticides used to treat the plants? I doubt many people working at home depot know there's even mescaline in them, and I have long hair so I suppose I could just pose as a hippy (I have long hair, smoke weed, use lots of pyschedelics, am lazy, and I'm going to college for ecological reasons....but I'm not a hippy dammit!) concerned about getting pesticides in his garden or some crap.
Thanks for the information so far guys!

Swim doesn't think the online vendors are a worry. If you are worried there are on line vendors that sell organic cacti. The big problem with home depots and target is they sell a ton of nonedible plants and probably spray the shit out of them with pesticides. I never buy fruit or vegetable plants from home depot either. I don't trust them. I like knowing where my food crops are coming from. I don't trust mass meat and dairy producers either. Hormones and antibiotics are the biggest fear there. I won't eat perdue or holly farms chicken because they pump them full of chemicals. That is why they are so fat. I don't want to be a vegan, because I like meat, but I will be damned if I will buy from mass producers who do not reveal how their food was produced. My rant sorry. And no, home depot employees probably have no clue as to how the cactus was grown and what type of chemicals were used. Spend a couple of extra bucks with a reputable on line vendor, or even ebay. Some of the vendors there have clean products, especially the ones that live in areas where these cactus grow like crazy and know what you might be doing with this cactus.
