Can't watch a video I downloaded

I downloaded some anime and every video there opens but all I see is a black screen and hear the sounds of the video, does anyone know a good program to analyse videos or know what I might need to play the video. I already have nemo's codec pack installed.

Oh never mind, I found out what it was that I needed, it was ffdshow

Download and try this media player. I almost guarantee it will play the video:

Nevermind you found what you needed. VLC is still is great media player. I never have to mess around trying to find a plugin or codec.

get the klite codec pack, it's got ffdshow, among others.

if you install a codec pack, uninstall every codec on your system first

and yeah, VLC rocks
