a few ?'s about growing coniditions and the like
    #558408 - 02/21/02 10:20 AM (23 years, 2 months ago)

1. should i stick some h202 (hydrogen peroxide right?) in my jar with my heater to protect from unwanted fungus?
2. will sticiking my cakes (in the jar still) in the fridge for a day before i birth produce a better pin set?
3. how much light should i give them a day? i have to keep a blanket over my terrarium now to keep the heat in while the jars are colonizing and when i take the blanket off, temps drop in there.
4. i dont have a humidity gauge cause im poor. but now i have my jars colonizing in the terr. and there is condesation on the jars, is that too much humidity? i kno its not good to have condensation on the cakes when i birth them, so i figure if there is condensation on the jars there will be on the cakes too when their time comes to grow. thanks for the help. late.

1) It wont hurt if you do, keeps the water from going completely stagnet
2) It will in terms of keeping the CAKES in line with eatchother, not just on the cake itself
3) You only need a few minutes a day, but the TMC says to use 12/12 hr cycles. Drop in temp is good for fruting...72-76F
4) If your going to do cakes, just keep the humidity as high as possible. Cakes need high humidity because there is no casing layer around them.

thanks for the help, one other thing, is it possible to do casings and cakes at the same time. i was thinking i could do the verm layers of the casing a little dryer than normal and that would make up for the high humidity in the terrarium. ooh and i went to radio shack to buy a temp/humidity thing and when i put it in my terrarium it was 76 deg/ 96 humid. now that i kno that ill just leave my heater right where it is, cause im taking it back, haha. late.
