Humidity to high
    #610164 - 04/16/02 04:21 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

Hi,

I have a problem that the humidity is to high,
I have a terrarium with a little tupperware bin with a aquarium heater and a bubbler inside ,the temp. is ok but the humidity is way to high (98%-99% rh)
And that is way to high for casings...

anybody any advise how to drop my humidity?

Thanks in advance,
With kindest regards,
Paddo

Well when your trying to initiate pins, you're going to want to keep that humiditiy as high as possible. What you have now is perfect. Keeping your casing nice and moist.

Once pins have developed, and have started growing, gradually decrease your humidity to about 85%. This is done by either removing perlite. (try removiing like 30 % of it), fanning more, or if you have a humidifier, adding more bottles inbetween.

First of all,
thanks for the fast reply!

Second:
I dont use any perlite.
And the humidifier is a self made one, like discribed above, a plastic bin with a aquarium heater and a bubbler inside so i cant use the "bottle tek"

I hope you could advice me some more (or some one else   )

Thanks again angryshroom

You might try cutting a hole into the fruiting chamber and covering it with a filter disc....then when you want to get the humidity back up....just cover the hole with something and duct tape it back on.
As you testing it....you might have to cut more holes....to drop the humidity.

You can also leave the lid ajar....and that will drop humidity.

If you want to lower the humidity, then leave the top of the fruiting chamber slightly open...just a fraction.
