first off, the F.A.Q. is a god send. an absolute plethera of information.
good work!
question one.
if i have two terrariums off of one ultra-sonic humidifier and i case in one and have cakes in the other and i set the humidity to be optimal for the casing will the cakes still grow? is this a bad idea?
question two.
i was going to make my terrariums out of styrofoam coolers with a plexi-glass top as opposed to aquariums. will this provide enough light for casing?
question three.
while the caseing is still experiencing mycelium growth in the first stages, does it have to be absolutley dark ALL the time. is five minutes of light a day (while checking it) going to trigger fruiting before i'm ready?

i am not sure if i am understanding your first question right but
1. they will grow in the one you made for cakes, if you have your cakes in the one that is like 95% all the time they will be perfect, and you will want to have your casings in there until they pin and start to grow, then move them into the one that is 85%
2. yes, will be enough light most likely
3. it proably will be fine, with my friendas experience he has not been lucky enough to have problems with early pinning, its a task in itself to get them to pin.

1) when you put your casings and cakes in the terrs you have to have them at least 95%. Cakes stay this high, but casings do need a drop in humidity when pins are visible, to around 87%. You should just have the humidifier set up for 87% or so, and then add perlite to the cake terr to achieve the 95% , through the entire process.
2) Yeah thats fine
3) No, it wouldnt get any light anyways because its still under the casing layer. If the mycelium has colonized onto the top of the casing, you really should have put that in the fruiting chamber already. You dont want overlay. Once you see any mycelium growing through the valleys of your casing, go ahead and patch them with a very small amount of casing, mist them well to acheive the optimum moisture content, and then just fruit em.

OK, SHOULD have been more clear with the first question.
i guess what i really wanted to know was can i have two different terrariums at two different humidity levels when they are both getting there humidity from one source (my ultra-sonic). i came up with the idea of adding an extra coke bottle between the last coke bottle and the terrarium i want at a lower humidity level.
i have included a crude diagram to show what i mean.
does it work?
(i got the 95% and the 85% backwards, it should be the other way around)

Hey, that seems like it could work. Except, you would want the hose running from your third bottle to terrarium number two, the one with higher humidity, and have a line going from your fourth bottle to terrarium number one. You probably knew that, you just drew the diagram wrong. I say its worth a try. then youll know what works well and what not.
