Ultra sonic Vs. Cool Mist.

In building a self sufficient terrarium using humidifiers. I know that Ultra sonic humidifiers are suppost to be advantageous over cool mist humidifiers, but does anyone know why exactly.
Will either type of humidifier work. I have some sort of visks humidifier, I am just not sure what type it is. In looking at its internals I have noticed that it seems to have some type of large rotating mechanics on the insides. I am guessing that this somehow gets airflow going and breaks up water physically somehow.
Also it intuitivels seems that in a humidifiers exhaust that you would have to somehow rig a way of hooking pipes into it. Meaning that the exhaust on a humidifier doesnt seem to be standardized in the respect of hooking any type of tubing into it. Such that you might have to put a tub against the output hole and cover around it with silicon or caulking.
Any ideas on building a self sufficient terrarium would be sufficient.
