This is a "Warm Mist Humidifier" a cool mist is prefered as
the warm mist will possibly provide to much extra heat which is unwanted as it will raise temp...

Also ultrasonic humidifers can also be used. They are much more effective at producing humid
air than a plain 'cool mist' humidifier. My gardener only runs his ultrasonic just one minute at the
low setting once or twice a day, and fans with cardboard to do the air exchange.

Take a read here, the article describes how to modify and use a cool mist.

Hey, if you're doing it in a cool basement so you have to add heat anyway, try it. But if it's anyplace warm, I wouldn't bother with it.

Everyone's got their own opinion and preference..
My gardener has a different situation then others. It is not possible for him to be running a cool mist 24hours a day such as many do... nosey room mate. He wanted to be able to provide short 'on' cycles to replenish the humidity. The cool mist seems to be good for air circulation as it is usually can and will be run continually because it doesn't overpower the terrarium with humidity. With it running continually on a timer, say every few hours it provides a constant gas exchange which is a nice pro. The noise factor from the cool mist fan always running was just to risky. Right now he runs his ultrasonic for just a minute once or twice a day on the lowest mist setting. His humidity never falls below 90 and is usually 95 or so, with no perlite! He fans 3-4 times a day.

His best suggestion to you if your considering a humidifier is to read away. When the search function starts working again.... search for:
ultrasonic
ultra sonic
cool mist

He preferred not to have much noise and didn't want to fuss with perlite as it seemed messy and dirty. So the ultrasonic fit the bill for his situation. He said he is now working on automating the fanning   Again unique situation,,, many people prefer perlite...  have fun
