Blue mold growing on possible death angel (pic)

Found this old timer in late summer of this past year on the side of a trail in western NC. It might be a death angel or perhaps some other kind of amanita. Any Ideas? Just thought it was neat because of the blue mold.

hmm very intersting but for some reason it does not 100% look like a destroying angel to me.

It does look like an Amanita, but, as thosemynikes suggested, I don't think it's in section Phalloidae of subgenus Lepidella (where the Destroying Angels are). The volva is incorrect, not appearing saccate.
If I had to make a wild guess I'd probably try section Amanita of subgenus Amanita. Another possibility would be section Lepidella of subgenus Lepidella. To be certain of which it is we need to see if the spores are amyloid.
For accurate identification of mushrooms you really need to pick them (make sure you get the entire mushroom, including the base of the stem) and bring them home. That way you can answer questions you didn't think of while in the field.
Happy mushrooming!

Thats an awesome picture you took there! Ohh sorry i have no idea of what it is. But I do know that a Amanita protrude from a capsule that would be easy to notice when you pull it from the ground.

Interesting picture. I have seen a blue/green mold growing on Psathyrella species before. The mold had started on the stump and worked its way up to the mushroom stem.
Something to keep in mind for those beginners who seek actives - careful not to confuse this sort of thing for bluing. A lot of times, if it's a mold, some of it will wipe off if you brush it with a moist cloth.
