I just get this sloppy drunk feeling if I eat on an empty stomach..the type of drunk where my words are slurred and I'm..well...sloppy. But if I drink on a full stomach, I am at least coherent, even if I'm plastered...I'll act wild but I won't act a fool, if that makes sense.

Drinking on an empty stomach is wonderfully frugal! Well said. I prefer to drink when I'm completely content: not hungry, and yet not full.

I admit, I don't know who Slade really is, other than I think it has something to do with the drummer from AC/DC.
