Last night I was at a coffeeshop doing homework and this girl sits at the table with me. She always hangs around me whenever I am there, but my ex-girlfriend always used to be there too. But now I am single and this girl sits down and we get to talking about music. She said she had been playing guitar lately but was too nervous to go onstage. I was encouraging her to come play sometime and not be nervous. She said she played Norah Jones-type stuff and immediately I was infatuated with her. I thought wow, this chick is interesting.

But after I left I asked around and learned she is 15. I don't know if I should be ashamed of myself. I feel like a dirty old pedophile praying on innocent youth or whatnot. Goddamnit, it's such a shame because it's rare for me to meet an interesting female, and when I do it's a little girl. It's disgusting. Where are all the women who like Norah Jones? I think I just want to be with Norah Jones, is the problem. Why did that girl have to say she played Norah Jones songs? It kills me.

Anyway, before I knew her age I told her if she would be at this open mic at another coffee shop, I would be there too. What, is her mom going to drive her there or something? Now I'm going to have to ignore this girl and be all cold towards her, and it's going to suck.

I'm not a perv I swear, she could have passed for 20.

I disagree with this. By saying "keep it as it is", do you mean he should keep flirting with a fifteen year old girl? Cause that's terrible advice.

IMO, no grown man needs to keep young girls as friends. It's inviting trouble.

No, I didn't mean flirting. I don't think it's hard to be friendly to the opposite sex without thinking of sex. I'm friendly to friend's sisters and people I work with who are a lot younger than me, it hasn't caused any trouble. Ages groups aren't supposed to be segregated from each other, I think that makes for a much thiner living experience.

If you liked her before you knew she was 15, and she looked a lot older than she was, than I would not consider it pedophilia at all.
Don't shun her or anything cold like that, but don't give her any signs that you could be more than friends. It would suck to cut someone off simply because of their age, because if they act mature and look mature, than it is simply a date that makes it "wrong".
Besides, if she is like every other 15 year old girl, she will end up being boring and just plain bothersome after you hang out a few more times, so then you lose the problem of feeling bad for being attracted to her.

I don't want to be with a girl under 20.  That was cool when I was younger, but really, the immature bullshit is inevitable.  Not that girls in their 20s are mature exactly, but many of them are independant, and that's sexy.  I need a girl who is able to look after herself.  The thought of having to baby someone to prevent drama is a big turnoff for me.  Been there, done that.  So, no 15 year olds.  Period.
