Great Idea for dunking them... Iv been flooding them in thier tins.
Then I would repatch.

It worked but I am going to try to get a greenhouse soon.

How did you light your greenhouse HC?

I take one of my Hubby's 10 pound metal weights . Put it in a half gallon zip-lock bag . Set it on top of the casing, fill it with tap water mixed with some H2O2 and let it sit for a day . Drain it and put it back in the green house .

I think it was the "it" part that got him (and me) a little confused. If you read your post, it sounds like the "it" is the 10lb weight. I thought you meant that you put the weight in the ziplock, filled the ziplock with water, then set the ziplock on top of the casing. :lol:

I quickly realized that you meant that you fill the actual casing tray with water and and used the weight to hold the casing down, but I can understand the confusion. :grin:

With nothing more then the lights in my bedroom . 3 60 watters in an overhead ceiling fan .

Come on guy's , lets not make this harder then it really is , lol . :grin:

That green house , set up and ready to run was $40 . It takes 20 pounds of poo and 8 quarts of WBS spawn per shelf . That's 4 shelves , or 32 quarts of WBS and 80 pounds of poo from Mike to fill it .

Total cost , everything , under $200 .

Yield , in under a month , almost 4 pounds of dryed , delicious , delectable , portabela mushrooms . PRICELESS  :thumbup:

Although I'm sure some of you could put a price on it  :wink:

I'm sure these results are obtainable with any kind of dung loving mushroom you choose to cultivate .

Screw mono and double tubs . I'm sure they have a place in cultivation . But untill I see the results from them equalling a green house , I'm all about green houses . They are so easy to set up and maintain . I fill my cool mists every 3 days and that's about it . :thumbup:

Tell ya what . I'm kinda a ratings whore,lol. If I get enough positive feed back from this post , I'll make a post about how I set that green house up . I feel I own it to the community any how  :grin: They are so easy and cheap to set up and maintain . And the results are unbelievable . Anybody can do it  :thumbup:

Hubby doesn't mind me using his weights. Damn near killed me when he came home and saw me prying the lid off the AA941 with his $250 Zwilling meat clever :blush:

Don't knock the mono/double tubs! :mad: :smirk:

My issues with green houses are:

- they are fairly large and I don't have the space
- they can't be moved quickly if a situation calls for it
- they have electrical components (fire hazard)
- they aren't very inconspicuous
- I don't need 4 pounds of mushrooms!

I can have all three down in a half hour . None of the PVC is glued. It comes apart with a twist.
The only electrical part is a cool mist . Which I'm sure most growers use .
I don't let many peeps in my bedroom .  :wink: Only the occasional co-worker to share a fun filled evening with hubby and me :wink: What can I say , I work at Hooters,lol. And we never make it past the living room . :wink:
Do you need all you get from one mono tub harvest,lol.

Fooman does have a point. Specifically, where I have my tubs, there is no way to discreetly store a greenhouse. For those with the room and privacy though, the greenhouse seems pretty much the way to go...provided you can consume so many mushrooms.

Nice greenhouse... but you get 5  :mushroom2: :mushroom2: :mushroom2: :mushroom2: :mushroom2: for that statement alone, lol.

Great job though.  I have been inspired to try greenhouses now.  They seem as easy/easier than a double tub, and the results are well worth it.

And what about all the trays inside? I can have my whole setup moved in 10 seconds. I can move it outdoors and in my car easily if need be. I can easily cover it with a towel and use it as a coffee table in plain view without arousing any suspicion.

I don't trust anyone enough to let them know I grow, other than you guys! It only takes one person to land you in federal (fuck you up the ass) prison. If the feds ever come knocking, I can toss my shit right out the window in one shot.

Why yes, one harvest takes care of me and a bunch of friends for months. I usually don't trip more then once a month and I don't sell mushrooms. I do give away a bunch at parties and festivals.

I'm not trying to knock a greenhouse setup in any way. It works great and will give you a shitload of mushrooms if done right. There are pros and cons to both setups. I was just responding to your "screw mono/double tub setups" comment. They definitely have a place in mushroom cultivation and I personally can't think of an easier setup. Whatever is good for you, go for it! :thumbup:

For my security and growing needs, a green house is too much. I've got a daughter that needs daddy around to keep her off the pole! Know what I mean? :smirk:

I switched to mono and double tubs from my "Greenhouse" (actually the top of a storage closet enclosed in plastic sheeting with a cool-mist hooked up)

My biggest problem with the greenhouse was the cool-mist. It was noisy as hell when I was trying to sleep. And I had to keep re-filling it every other day and washing it out once a week to keep any nasties from growing in it.

But now that I've done tubs. I think I'm gonna make myself a new greenhouse.

With tubs it's always a compromise between humidity and air exchange. Usually you can find a happy medium that works quite well. But I REALLY like how much air exchange and "tweekable" humidity you get with a cool-mist.

And the BIGGEST problem I have had with tub is, If you get the GREEN... then your whole tub becomes venerable! With more smaller trays inside a greenhouse you can simply remove the bad one as soon as you stop a contam and it's gone.
