The rare Entoloma aprile
    #5543618 -

The rare European spring mushroom, Entoloma aprile, fruiting happily in a shaded part of my front garden under bushes of the rosaceae family

Sorry about the picture quality, I've taken the camera back for a refund!

Interesting. What resource did you use to compare your finds to that species?
I saw it described in an online resource, but I don't remember it from my books. Could have something to do with the fact my books are based on North American species. While the online resource I saw says they occur in Europe, in the spring.

I used 'Mushrooms & other fungi of Great Britain & Europe' by Roger Phillips. It's out of print now but all the local mycologists I know swear by it as being the most comprehensively illustrated book on the subject in Britain.

I asked him about his new book and he said it should be out on the 18th August, can't wait to pick a copy up!

Yes, it's a European species so you'll only find it mentioned in European books. It's actually been fruiting in my garden for about a month now, hope to see it next year
