 Excellent post!
I wish I could keep this thought and write it on a sign above my head before I fall back into the circles of my mind.

Just put the Tibetan letter on a sign above your head.
Then you might not fall back into the circular motion of your thinking.

There are so many good books. To begin with i would highly recommend anything by His Holininess the Dalai Lama.
"Wisdom Energy" by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe. "Gesture of Balance" by Tarthang Tulku. "Zen Mind Beginners Mind", by Shunryu Suzuki. "Not Always So" by Shunryu Suzuki. "Present Fresh Wakefulness" by Chokyi Nyma Rinpoche. "The Progressive Stages of Meidtation on Emptiness" by Ven. Kenpo Tsultrim Rinpoche is an excellent book! "Calm and Clear" by Lama Mipham. "Cultivating a Daily Meditation" by HHDL "Crazy Wisdom" Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche "Myth of Freedom" Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep" Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. "Dream Yoga and the Practice of the Natural Light" Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. "You Are the Eyes of the World" Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. "Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism" Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
I dont know how many of these books are still in print. But all of them are highly recommeded, all of them have there basis in meditation, but the specific guide books are as they say. Calm and Clear ephasises the Wheel of Analytical Meditation, which you might find very appropriate for you. Using our concepts to go beyond concept.
There are many ,meditative methods within Buddhism as a whole, but all methods are connected to our three gates, body, speech, and mind. They are called gates, because through these experiences of our three gates, we can train ourselves to recognise our pure awareness.
Therevadan Buddism has the explanation of the Jhanas according to Hinayana Sutra scriptutres. Mahayanaists, who are practitioners more related with intention, have Sutras related with a more open and expansive view of both Relative and Ultimate truths. The Vajrayana Buddhism teachings are concerned with transforming the emotions, and as such is called the ThunderBolt path or Lightening Vehicle, becuase it is much quicker, but much more of a dangerous route. Dzogchen however is the path of "Great Perfection" and is the pinnacle and the essence of all paths to enlightenment. Dzogchenpas seek to go beyond the subject, object dichtomy of the two truths, as they reocgnise that the one truth is the inspeparability (non-duality) of both relative and ultimate conditions.
So go seek out the teachings, but be aware that in these dark times many charletans that stalk there prey by using spiriutality as bait. Be aware and always investigate a lineage or teacher before diving into a relationship with one. This is my one word of warning to you. Check out Esangha for details on the different traditions and lineages.

There are special practices, for the blind, such as working with sound. there are special practices for def people, mainly woking with visualization. Of course, it depends on each individual case, and the extent of the brain damage suffered, it could become an obstalce to realization. Although an authentic Dzogchen master lives beyond limitations, and can teach a student in a more direct manner, beyond the mind and the functioning of the senses.
In the Tibetan traditions however, it is said that the eyes are the windows of wisdom.

Thank you. I really enjoyed reading this and really respect your knowledge and wisdom, not to throw you on an ego trip , but honestly, thank you.
I will look into those readings.
All the best.

No problem. Im glad you enjoyed.
If your not enjoying life and allowing situations to teach you, are you really expanding your life towards realizing your full potential? Or are you just merely watsing time distracted, chasing after sense pleasures?

But is the idea not to transcend your mind and discover your true self? This is a concept I have difficulty understanding, and your original post helped me greatly with.
That is, what exactly I am if I am not my thoughts or my mind, what is I? This is the question that interests me.

The more you get to know your own mind, the more you discover its real nature!
The question is like a finger pointing.
