sealed tub without tub??

iv been hearing great things about the double and single tub set ups however tubs tend to run on the pricy side when doing bulk (45 bucks for 3 decent sized tubs is a bit much for me)anyway i was thinking how about i use some big trays like 1X3 or 1X2 and then make a little frame around it and then make an air tight plastic "tub" to go over the frame using plastic sheets and ducktape, as for air exchange i was thinking about 4 1-inch PVC wachers stuffed with polyfill and then taped into the sides of my plastic aquarium

anyone tried this, any foreseeable problems besides effort, do you think sheet plastic will be able to support "polyfill washers"??

45 bucks for three tubs!!! where are you shopping at? K mart has sterilite tubs on sale right now 4 bucks each...

i usually shop at walmart or lowes and the size i want (i think its like 50 0r 80Q i cant remember) is about 10-15 bucks for one tub
