Cant get a working tub in tub incubator

The title says it all...Ive made an incubator per magash, the tub in tub style...

Problem is the inner tub keeps leaking and flooding my incubation chamber! :eek:

My first inner tub was tied down real tight with zip ties and it leaked through a crack in the bottom...
My second inner tub was tied down very lightly, and it also leaked through a crack in the bottom....
My third tub, i didnt tie down, but i did put a pair of bricks in it....now it has leaded as well....

I dont know why they are leaking....perhaps the Clorine in the water weakens the tubs plastic?
Also the type of tub im using is Rubbermaid Roughneck 18gal

There's no need to tie the inner tub down, really. How much bleach are you using? A little bit goes a long way :wink:.

i use the same containers. I do not tie them down, and i do not use bleach. I only use h2o2 and water and its worked perfectly...

I didnt tie down the last one...though there was 2 bricks in it...

Actually my outer tub is all warped from the first time when i did tie down...So i should buy two more....

I wont tie them and ill use H2O2 instead of Cl ( i used quite a bit of Cl )

How often do you add H2O2? Cause i got alage the first time when i only used a cap of bleach...

Two cap fulls should be enough. It sounds like you're right about the bleach breaking down the plastic. I don't think you'll need to use the bricks either...it's okay to have the inner bin just floating on the water. Good luck :grin:.

Also tying is unneccesary
this tub-in-tub has served cujo pretty well for several months now
no leaks

Did the tub in tub.
Got the pro heat aquarium heater and air pump.
Great colonization.
1 cap of bleach per gallon.

an igloo cooler works good too, just build a rack, put the submersible heater below, add a tub that holds the jars or whatever, make air holes. Fill till the tub almost floats.

This heater is way cool, remote therm makes it way easy
