The rubber part on the plunger of a syringe works as good as the ports i bought. Fuck me, I'm stupid

My brother's uncle in law does a job with silicon sealer and jar lids .First he drills a hole in a full box of lids .
Next he lays a single lid on a stack of fender washers ( 6 ) and punches a hole in it , the predrilled hole helps him line up the hole for a screw driver to punch a bigger hole.
Next he enlarges the hole and puts a dimple in the lid with a double ball peen hammer ( on an empty propane bottle for support of the lid )
nexts he fills the dimple with G.E window and door 1 ( cauckin wal mart)
Next he takes a cheap disposeable putty knife from wal mart and smooths down the silicon and makes sure it fills the dimple and the hole .
To make a product that looks about like this one
Next he lays them on a top of a rubbermaid lid for about 48 hours to dry as the silicon will not stick to it and needs a good place to cure . When he uses these self made injection ports to inject for liquid culture he makes sure that he coats the bottoms ( the real tops of the lids ) with a super liberal coating of silicon as rust looks like a major contam if it gets into the culture .One other thing that he has done to facilitate liquid culture is to leave the lids right side up and to scrape the rubber seal in a few spots so that no seal can be made .Total time to make a dozen of these self sealing injection ports is about 20 mins . He uses each injection port about 4 times before he replaces them . This silicon sealer is good to 450 f so is well with in the range of your pc . Hopefully this can help someone out . I know that my brother's uncle in law sure likes the finished product .
