Im going to be trying your waxpaper "tek", and I have a few questions. Do you add anything to your poo, any buffers? And if so, how much per pound of manure? Also, what do you like to spawn with? Ive been using wbs for the past few months and have never tried any other grains. BTW, I can only PC at 10psi.

The wax paper simply helps to hold in moisture, and also create a humid microenvironment where the pins and fruits form. I prefer rye berries over any other spawn.
I save my coffee grinds from the coffee pot every morning in a bin. When I make up substrate, I use horse manure, 25% or so coffee grinds, five to ten percent gypsum, and hydrated lime at the rate of 1 teaspoon per cup of combined manure/coffee. I also add about 1/2 teaspoon per cup of blood meal. Pasteurize and use.
10 psi will be fine to sterilize grains. Just go two hours. RR

Nitrogen is for plants. NPK is not applicable to animals or fungi. I have no idea what actually 'feeds' the mushrooms in coffee grinds, but I do know that it makes a fairly good substrate all by itself, but mixed with manure, it is excellent. I know a small commercial oyster grower in my area that visits the starbucks stores every day to pick up the used coffee grinds free. It's the only substrate he uses. RR
