Um.. this may be a stupid question, but is a birdseed substrate just using birdseed intstead of vermiculite? Do you only use birdseed, or do you mix it with water?

no you are not reading you are just in to much of a rush to beat mom coming home---go to www.thehawkseye.com and read tips/teks he has a good recipe for finch seed tek but otherwise you need to soak the bird seed in water and the steep it and them mix in vermiculite and sterilize it
