cakes on verm vs. jar lid
    #549278 - 02/12/02 06:28 PM (22 years, 9 months ago)

Does anyone know if it makes a significant amount of difference whether u set ur cakes on mounds of damp verm as opposed to directly on the jar lid like as if u had them on a wire mesh surface or something. Thanks a lot!!!!

Not quite sure what you mean about a wire screen, but damp verm promotes pinning near the bottom. I'm assuming your talking about pf mmgg cakes, and I've had good success double end casing with verm, a little on top and bottom. It also helps keep the cakes a little more moist and extends cake life and produce.
Hope I helped....Peace and JAH Love

Sitting the cakes directly on (verm/perlite) can cause over saturation of the cake, fruiting bodies to be waterlogged and possible would invite contamination. I like to set my cakes on (verm/perlite) for a day or two instead of dunking them and then removing them by use of a plastic lid.

Good Luck!
