Another Casing Question!!!

how often should you air out your casing before pinning? I'm afraid of letting in a lot of contams, but at the same time I think it might need fresh air so it wont get contaminated. What should I do?

do you mean while they are in the incubator or when you put them in the terranium?

My incubator is my terrarium in this case. I just did tree cakes in a bucket with a lid. I just cased them yesterday, how often should I air them out. Once they pin I know how often to air them out, but what about before the casing has even begun colonization?

Just curious, why did you choose the handle 'Mickey Finn'. I used to love mickey Finn but then he started spinning some shit I'm not too fond of.

I was actually curious about mine too.
This is the first casing i have tried. Also first time with the rye method. i think i went too light on the rye (only 1") and too heavy on the case (.75") i was thinking of beefing it up to 1 1/4" rye, and 3/4" case. (note: My pans are only a little over 2" deep)
Do they need air circulation after you have put the casing on top and covered with saran? because right now, they have 0 air exchange, and are sitting in my terrarium.
the terrarium is 90-92, but i assume humidity is even higher under the saran wrapped pans.

The whole point of covering with saran wrap is to build up Co2 levels so the mycelium continues to colonize and reinforce until you remove the saran wrap. When you see mycelium in 20% of the layer then you remove the plastic and give it air exchange and high humidity.
