hydro poppies?

i was wondering how poppies would grow in a hydroponic setup along with weed. i've looked around for information on growing poppies, and found nothing on how they would do under 1000w MH-HPS lamp. would that be too much for them to handle does anyone think? and would Earth juice ferts work alright on them?

they dont like water, they dont like heat, and they dont like having their roots touched.
i have seen them grown hydroponically, and although it did better than i expected, it wasnt worth it even slightly

I'm not really trying to get any good sized quantity,i just want a little bit to smoke on a time or two with my Lady. really my question is, is the light too much for em' to handle, and is the earth juice an acceptable fert? i also have some fox farm, but i was unpleased with the results of it on my last pot grow. i also have soil, would that be better, or is the hydroton? sorry if this all sounds stupid, but it's hard to find opium, and even if it's in pathetic quantities, it would be nice to smoke a bowl or two.
