Great man! Thanks for the reply. So these are basically for seed production? Would they still produce opium? Or are they just good for seeds? Thanks in advance for any replies.

im sure they will produce opium. just because the dutch grow them to get there seeds doesnt mean that they wont produce latex. hell you really would have to look at why the plant produces the opiate latex. im not saying this is true but heres a scenario... the plant want to protect the seeds, so it produces latex so that if the pods are scratched the latex drips out and dries over the scratch so none of the seeds are damaged.... maybe more seeds = more latex. or maybe thats just b.s.

Or you could read at poppies.org where they deal strictly in poppies.

Morphine is an alkaloid. Alkaloids are carbon containing (organic) and affect animal (including) physiology. They are primarily for chemical defense, not to heal the plant.

Chances are, the Dutch blues were bred for seed and not for latex, although if the plant is healthy, it will produce a fair amount of latex. This is really similar to bread seed poppies availible at the grocery store. Durkee gourmet is actually tasmanian variety seed. You can buy them in your spice aisle!
