Creative's answer to the iPod

Ok.. so Creative (the company that makes soundblaster) isn't an american company. Apparently, the country I've been staying in the past month is the country that Creative calls home. I'm wondering.... anyone got any experience with their new MP3 players? I'm trying to move beyond the iPooP... and I figured hell.. Creative's MP3 player probably has to be descent? Someone let me know. After a month I've got 24 hours left here and I'm trying to decide if it's worth getting it discounted here at the source.

Suffer has a creative nomad thing...it's fairly old I think, but he likes it and it works well.
If you have the opportunity to, get a Toshiba Gigabeat. They're cheap (I got my 40gig one for $279) and they have a color screen and store pictures too.

i have a creative zen touch 20gig. they're cheaper than iPods, other than that seriously they're basically the same. the creative is a bit better though i think, it has way longer battery life (24hours).
my first one broke though, i sent it back and they replaced it no problem.
and im pretty sure creative never ''answered'' to the iPods, seeing as how they were around first. im pretty sure creative created the first line of mp3 players.

I got creative's zen micro. For the most part it's pretty sweet. I like the shape and feel of it alot more than the equivalent ipod mini, or even the ipod nano. It has a very ergonomic feel that fits comfortably in your hand. It also has a microphone, which is great since i'm a student and like to record lectures. My only real complaint is that when I hook it up to my computer to sync it with windows media and transfer music, it freezes up about 25% of the time. I'm not sure why it does this, but it does get a bit frustrating because I have to pop the battery out and restart it. When I first got it, it would also freeze up every now and then during regular use. I updated the firmware on it and that seemed to fix that problem. Also the battery life is probably around 6-7 hours. I haven't really kept track, but it seems like I have to recharge it every 3 or so days, using it for around 2+ hours a day.

The Zen Touch 20/40 gig HD player is very good. Just about all of my friends have iPods, and they are constantly breaking and malfunctioning, my friends complain about the poorly designed touchpad and its sensitivity. The Zen has a much longer battery life, its layout of software and hardware is better IMO, and overall it's definitely worth it. If you can get a good discount, I would highly recommend it.

I've got a zen micro as well. I love it. Its got a great program for connecting to the computer, or you can just drag and drop files onto it like a removable disc. The battery life is pretty good, and so far I've had no problems with mine and couldnt be happier with it. I'm so glad i didnt get an ipod, id highly recommend creative, from what ive seen they mp3 players are pretty good quality.

I've had a 20 GB Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen for over three years and I love it. It's been used a ton and I've never had a single problem with it. It's the only player that I've ever owned.
