My G4 Powerbook has been running 10+ hours a day for three years without even a hiccup. My Ipod is nearly two years old, with heavy use and not a problem there, and my G5 tower will last me the rest of my life.

Next.

lol

that doesnt mean that ipods are shitty mp3 players though

it also does not mean that apple products are not good.

it also doesnt mean that you shouldnt accept an ipod gift from your grandma when you recieve it either.

so might as well hemp it out.

My Ipod is going on three years old. It's been exposed to Iraqi desert heat at 135f and below freezing in WA state at around 20f.

Still works great.

Though I do agree in one aspect, because the earbuds blow. He should've bought some new headphones just for his listening pleasure.

Those are the coolest headphones I've ever seen. SO what if they are from apple, they are covered in hemp and that makes them bomb imo.

Nope. Found it on some web site then emailed the artist about it. He said it was mushroom inspired. He doesn't have any other psychedelic type work and honestly I wasn't really interested in any of his other stuff. Wish I could remember the site.

Well if you want to know why a mac sucks. i could go on for hours why you are just getting ripped off.
to start on the ipod issue, my mp3 player is the same size and shape as a nano (the new one) and holds 4 gb of memory, plus has a slot to expand with a micro SD (up to 8gs). Oh and it only cost 120 dollars with a 5 year warranty.

For computers, well there the same insides as pc's now, but if your hard drive or any other part fails on a mac, and you replace it with say a normal hardrive (which will work) you void your warranty, so instead you pay double the price for a "mac certified technician" to install a "mac certified hard drive".
Ya guess what doesnt take a genius to be a "mac technician" cause all it takes is 75 dollars or something and an online website.
Don't be like the rest of the sheeple, consider some alternatives dont be a trendy fuck.

Is it IMPOSSIBLE to believe that there are those of us, for what we do, apreciate the Mac for what it is and what it does, and are willing to pay more for it?

I have a Dell laptop also, and I HATE it. I love my Macs. Some people still love Fords. I think their nuts, but if they're happy. :shrug" Of course, comparing a Mac to a Ford is a stretch, but......

im not saying there shitty computers, im sayin they are the same as a pc, for twice the cost  . and honestly its a scam how they make you buy one for school. "oh you NEED a mac to run photo shop. funny cause i just got through graphic design with my PC and i actually had twice the load speed as a mac, oh and my tablet worked flawlessly, and i didn't have to pay 3000 dollars for a pc that does the exact same thing that my 1300 dollar pc does. (oh by the way 1300 dollars was the price before sale point i found it on sale for 650) and no im not a jew, i just know how to shop

fl studio  <<<<<<<<< LOGIC STUDIO!!!!!

FL studio has noticeably lower sound rendering quality.  everything i have made in the mac programs sounds better, and my skills are stil n00b.

lol id like to know what makes a mac better than a pc for composing music. And no im not bitter at all, actually ive used macs alot, my first computer was a mac actually. And I have gone through a lot of schooling as far as using, and building computers go. multiple programming languages, lots of software. lots of different systems. And you are right you never have to use the task manager. when your mac crashes, it just crashes and thats it. I bought a ipod and the battery died on me within the first 6 months i bought it. I got online and read the consumer reports and realized i had been duped into buying one. I snapped that damn thing in half, then went to Walmart and bought a 30 dollar mp3 player that ran on one AAA battery. It rocks.

lol id like to know what makes a mac better than a pc for composing music. Shits gone, no error report, just a retarded message saying "there is something wrong with your mac" . something wrong? no shit. my mac does not crash.

and never has.

in the whole year that i have been using it.  even with extremely high stress situations (rendering, live timestretching with sound, loads of torrents etc)

i dunno maybe you use computers for a different reason than i do.

you are probably an optimization nerd.  go overclock something then read error messages about it.

I love how people say they do their everyday things on a mac and it never crashes.

I have my PC running with a fairly decent overclock (33% on the cpu) and dont have crashes. It has been on 24/7 for months before.

People who buy macs because they have problems with pc's, are just ignorant to the fact that they dont have any techincal computer skills.

Mac products are designed to attract people without real computer knowledge. Look at their advertising.

My mac has certainly crashed. Safari, Word, my mom.... you name it, its crashed.

Overall, I find my Mac o be less responsive than a PC.  Pinwheels, sluggish performance etc.  The major problem is maximizing programs.  If I want to use MS word, how come I can't maximize the damn thing?  I constantly have windows in front of one another and they get in the way of dragging things around etc.

man im jealous.  ive had about 4 or 5 ipods over the past 6 or so years.  ive had the shittiest luck whatsoever.
granted....my first one was subject to alot of bumps and bruises as i just remember droping it alot and it stoped working.
since then i took care of all of them very well.  bought rubber cases for them to ease the shock of dropping and whatnot.
not one that i  have had has lasted more than 6 months.  the one i have now.....an 80 gig classic ive taken the best care of.  i havent dropped it once.
i had a belt thing that allowed it to connect it to my pant belt loop.  rubber casing.
and about 2 weeks ago it started acting up out of nowhere.  i had to reformat it after a night of it working perfectly.  lost all my music that i had lost from my external hard drive so i had to redownload everything.
upon redownloading everything and trying to upload it all back onto the ipod i ran into a plethora of problems.  took me about a week to get it filled up again.  constant error messages.  tons of files i had to bypass that originaly worked with it.  same torrents and everything.  then when i was finaly done uploading.....a ton of the songs skipped through or only played halfway.  after reformating it a bunch of times somehow i got through getting it fairly functional.  and then all of a sudden about 2 days ago...it stopped holding a charge.
when i plug it into the wall charger it says fully charged.  and doesnt charge, when i unplug it just shuts off, no power.  when i plug it into computer, it just flashes the apple logo on and off as if its trying to charge, so now i cant even upload or change songs.  only way it works, is with this AA batery conection pack thing that i can connect to it.  then it recognizes it as fully charged and i can play it.  turns off once i unplug the pack.  but i need to get double a batts for it to work so it costs me.  fucking bullshit.
im surpised to hear so many success stories on here about iPods as from most of the accounts online that i read and even from other people i know they shit out in no time.  average of 6 months from most of what ive heard.
lucky you guys!
ill never get an ipod again unless they get better customer service, or in general get beter with the technology.  ive heard better acounts of zunes and things like that.
almost every trouble shooting technique that worked for me was found out by a random owner of ipod that figured shit out on their own.  the websites have such generic basic troubleshooting techniques that dont work for the weird shit.  and why they havent updated the sight with techniques that have since been found out by users i dont know.
so in my experience, ipods fucking suck.  but glad to hear you guys  have had better luck just the same.

lol did i mention dell? there just as bad as macs lol. you guys really dont know shit do you?
Dell does the same thing. they build a computer for a specific life time, including parts such as celeron processors. Celeron processors lack the math chip that is in the intel counter parts, and are not assured to run as specs say. They also build their computers to be incompatible with regular PC parts. So when I wanted to upgrade the power supply on my desktop, it was about 40 dollars. But when i did the same for a friends dell, since they need dell power supplys, it was 90 dollars.
Im not sayin they dont work though, dont get me wrong. They work, but why would i buy 3 dells in 5 years, when i can have my current HP or Toshiba?

to put a few links.

My home has a few thousand dollars of bose systems, including their high end 901 system. and they suck.

Nothing about bose speaker design makes any acoustic sense.

But even though they produce a crappy over priced product, they still sell lots. because of marketing that targets the uninformed, just like apple.

Ever been high end speaker shopping? The bose equipment is never in the same room as other brands speakers, and you cannot test out bose systems side by side with other manufacturers. Look for yourself.

This is because bose makes their resellers do this. I wonder why.

We have the old school 901's, the new gen 901's, and a bose acoustimass 10 surround sound.

All garbage. The bass is boomy and unrefined. the mid-bass is non existant. the midrange is flat and lifeless, and the highs are shrill.

The soundstage is unbalanced and unnatural.  just overall a poor sound experience. especially for the price tag.

Bose wouldnt be so bad if all of their products cost 1/3 less than what they do.

But if you want to drop 1000$ on speakers, dont look to bose.

EDIT:

Have you ever seen bose post frequency response graphs or provide any technical info for their speakers? Nope. If bose really were so great you think they would want to publish their frequency response graphs to prove it, like other companies do.

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/speakers-subwoofers/123051-bose-901-frequency-response.html
http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html#number1

The sub for the system cant even go below 40hz. the satellites cant go over 13khz? even old adult ears can hear up to or above 16khz, and audio tracks have sound up to 20khz.

Also, they have sued consumer reports for publishing a review that was negative. what a great company.

You're right about Bose, but they are still sound systems that are in a different "class" then any "all-in-one", or off the shelf Wal-mart boombox.

Compared the majority of sound systems, they sound great. FOr the price, you can get better.

bose is garbage...period.  Whatever you spend on the bose, unless used and highly discounted (which doesn't happen, bose requires companies that sell their products not to have sales, to make the seem 'prestige'), was too much, and you could get much better for the same price, or a little better for much cheaper.
