I'll probably get an argument from someone here, but I couldn't get things to work right when I tried to use any sort of grow chamber with trays. I tried everything from having the lid fully closed as with the cubes to leaving it a bit open with a fan blowing fresh air in. Nothing gave me more than a handful of mushies. Once I tried the neglect type approach I had all I needed. Now I don't think they ever got as tall as some of the pics I've seen of the really good flushes, but they were wall to wall. I'm going to start another grow in a day or two to see if I can replicate things again. I will post my pics and progress. The only difference will be that I'm using Jamacian strain this time and had Hawiian last time. Keep your eye out for it in the next 3-4 days.

Wilma- It was a MS innoc, shaken lightly after 7 days and again after 10 days.  Full colonization was 11-12 days but i always let jars sit for at least two weeks before i think about spawning them.  No specific tek followed really, just made sure to keep the poo to about an inch and a 1/2 depth, shredded it as fine as i could with my hands, added it to the tub, and then mixed in a quart of spawn as carefully and as evenly as i could.  The length of time should roughly equal a cubensis grow, so you're looking at around a month give or take with MS and about 20-25 days with an LC.

Rider- Technically the long ass stems with tiny caps is an undesirable trait due to high levels of c02 in your grow chamber.  Im actually looking to get flushes akin to blue helixes, nice wide caps, and a bit more stout stems.

Fick_duck- Tis a triple A battery, told you these guys were tiny :smile:

Oh yah, for those who dont know, remember cyan myc is VERY fragile and when harvesting the mushrooms you cant get around using a scissor. If you pull you'll more often then not take up huuuuuge chunks of substrate.

So if you want to keep your trays fruiting as heavily as possible for several flushes make sure to block the bottom to avoid side pinning. I purposely didn't this time and it was a royal pain in the ass (but worth the effort IMO) to get at all the guys in the side.

Well I inoculated 15 jars today with some Pan. Cyans. They were Australian not Jamacian. Didn't bother to post pics since we've all seen what jars of grain look like. I'll give you a heads up when things start happening. I am using popcorn and incubating at about 76deg.

No. Pan Cyans incubate at quite a bit lower temps. I've had my best luck with incubating at about 76 and fruiting at about 72, but you can incubate a room temp with some success.

not yet man, my life just isnt right now for tripping.  My last trip i kind of forced on myself and kind of wasted it.  So im trying to just hold out until the time is right :smile:

well, i just harvested the second flush, and this time around the caps were bigger (lots of nickel to quarter sizes) and the stems were more stout. I also taped off the sides to discourage the side pins and managed to move most of the pinning to the top layer. Still had a few side guys but not as many as the first grow. I definitely like how fast the cyans grow, not even a day after i harvested i had new pins setting and growing fast.

Ive also been surgically removing green patches here and there, the cool thing about cyan grows is its easy to distinguish the trich myc and remove it instead of just cleaning the mold spores up. The problem with cyan grows is they never really colonize the grains enough to the point of leaving them closed to contams, almost every spot of green i removed had a piece of nasty dark green grain near by.

Depending on my testing schedule at school i may be trying them out next weekend.
