Pan. Cyans. Grow...

To all my peers who grow Pan. Cyanscens, I won a syringe of these puppies and once I relocate at the end of the month I'd like to innoculate and grow them out. I was warned that you can't do a traditional BRF cake substrate for this species...I'd appreciate any advice on what grows have worked best for anyone with this species. I know from Sporework's website info that they grow best off manure and not straw...and I'll have plenty of horse poop from my neighbor's horses...so I'm just curious...what substrate do I innoculate to then spawn on the poop?
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks.

I have personally found that for Pan-Cyans, you can get good results with using a combination of rye, millet, straw, or even finch seed for your spawn. I've tried a number of different casings with these and have found that good ole' cow/horse flop spawned with any of the above grains gets good results. Worm castings work great for the Pans too. I'm still on the search for the ultimate spawn/casing combination for the Pans, but so far the best producing and easiest combination I've found is 3:1 rye/straw spawned into a casing of 3:2 cow flop/worm castings. Good luck, and keep us posted with your progress and findings once you get started. I think you'll find the cultivation(and subsequent tripping) of the Pan-Cyans to be an especially rewarding experience.

Thanks!! I was going to order millet from Myco Supply for my first few grain spawn attempts...but I also plan on still using BRF cakes for cubies...I don't want to waste the BRF I already bought.
Thanks again!
Peace,

bluefoot, what type of jars are you using for the pans? I have the same problem, and hope you could go a little more in depth. I have some filter disks, and am wondering which size jar to use, and what size did you chop up the straw? thanks.

here is a simple way to grow pans. its not complete, but gives the groundwork. the reason i didnt finish it, was the air went out here, and the heat killed all the casings :-( but it was working great pan cyan poo beta test i salvaged what i could ( 2"-3" shrooms, but lost the casings)

Once you go bulk, you'll never wanna do brf again!

hmmmmmmmmm well, i can see your point, but i find it just as easy to use brf ( actually rye flour) as spawn. there isnt anything grains can do, that you cant make a couple jars of brf do. i personally never messed with grains much, because i havent found a need to, and my bulk work is exceptional. i know im out of the norm, but until i see a NEED to use grain ( i.e. some edibles) , i'll continue growing GREAT shrooms, with what works best for me

I've got news for you pal:
Rye Berries colonize 100% in 9 days from a multi-spore innoculation!
You don't need an isolate to do it!

boppity, if you want an easy method, w/ less chance of contams, give the link i provided a shot. just trying to help. and tripmeister, lets leave this thread alone, im sure boppity didnt start it to hear us debate the importance of grains. as i said in my reply, i am not the norm, i just prefer doing things the way i am. and it is an acceptible method. i just got a 50 gram dry flush from cake spawned compost, 47 gram dry second flush, so it's working for me
<<<<<< always the oddball, but ya gotta luv me
