Pan Cyan or pan Cyan't

What does pan (cope) cyan myc look like? My friend, Don Quixote, thought he had cobweb... he removed the jar from the others... all the others stalled... the one keeps getting whiter and whiter instead of dark. It was grey in the begining though. Now it is mostly white with some greyish patches. Not rizo at all.

I've heard pan cyan myc can be a little hard to recognize to an untrained eye... so can cobweb. What do you guys think?

I'd love some opinions... pan cyan myc photos are rare here. What I've seen look sorta' like I described.

I will have some photos for ya in less than a week if you can wait.  It's alot less snowflake white like cubies are, more of an off white color/gray.  It definitely doesn't resemble cobweb though, it grows just a bit faster than cubie mycelium so far :smile:

Thanks guys... I'm sure Don'd feel better if all his jars had colonized instead of just one... but it was a wild print. Also, cobweb is rare in jars. Still, looked a bit like cobweb to me. Not enough to throw out, mind you, but a bit... looks like I need to post a pick... sigh... I'm lazy. Now I have to call Don, tell him to get off his fat ass and take a pic.

Don just sent me these. The greyish stuff came first... like a light grey cobweb... then it got darker... then it started turning white... thoughts?



That grey is NOT substrate... the substrate is WBS and Rye grass seed.




The other sde looks pretty good.



This is the best detail Don could muster... it is dark... and a flash is no good for pictures of glass.

here is what thay have looked like for me. sorry for not having pictures of more advaced growth but im not big on documentation. in the red is hardcore white and in the green is where it starts to get grayish. the farther it grows from the inoculation point the light or more graysh it gets. pans are know for their less agressive though not slow growth. you will never see the leaf like veins you will in cubensis.

That confirms it for me... that and GregHimself on irc... it is myc... IT'S MYC!!!

I've never seen anything grow so fast without shaking... almost like cobweb... just a bit slower and a lot whiter! This stuff looks NOTHING like cube myc up close... except for the color. Thanks Zap... you rock my world.

Cope myc growth is odd... never seen anything like it.

Copes are still tricky once cased... I'll stop worrying when Don has shrooms... but yeah... the jar looks great for now. Thanks again. Good luck on your grow Al. Remember, it's not a race :smile:.
