Does Vancouvers 'green zone' still exist?
    #5339959 - 02/26/06 01:26 AM (17 years, 11 months ago)

Well I vaugely remember reading somewhere that Blunt Bros cafe had burnt down...did other stuff, like Urban Shaman, go with it?

Also seen stories of raids and obviously the whole Marc Emry thing...

So my question is, is the Green Zone in Vancouver still around? Is the scene still alive and kicking?

I'm going to Vancouver in a couple of months and I'm hoping to smoke some nice herbs and talk to some sweet ethnobotany nerds like I did last time I was there 2 years ago.

You can still smoke at the New Amsterdam Cafe, and there's probably still an old guy selling dimebags at a nearby location that everyone you ask will point to.

i cant immagine a vancouver withought weed availble evrywhere for cheap.

personally tho, i advise staying away from the downtown and try the bohemian flavour of commercial drive.

you can buy weed from almost anybody hanging around brittania park, and Cafe deux soleils is just up the street.
you cant smoke weed there, but when I was in the area its where I went.

you can smoke your weed pretty freely, the cops will usually leave you alone if you keep it away from where kids are playing.

Yeah, I read about Blunt Bros. in an issue of High Times, but I think it only burned down that shop and one next to it got some damage, but it's still there. As far as the green zone goes, I have no idea, but I hope it holds against the conservatives.

When I was there, pot was absurdly easy to come by.  We just went into Blunt Bros. (RIP that wonderful establishment - they had some dank burritos)  and asked the first pair of youngish kids where we could get some and they took us to a nearby apt full of good stuff that we picked and chose from.  By the end of 3 days we had tried 4 or 5 different kinds, it was great.

Having a hotel room at the Westin with a balcony overlooking the lake didn't hurt.

My buddy was just smokin spliffs down there last week. I was thinking of heading up there for 4:20. It's still kickin. Don't know for how long though.

Blunt Bros is burnt down but it looks like they're building something new there. The urban shaman is a-ok and the BCMP store has a vaporizer lounge now
