Anyone studied this stuff seriously? yin and yang the theory of the five elements, how they relate to the organs in the body, excess and deficiency, acupuncture, meridian theory, the changes and states described in the hexagrams of the I-Ching....anyone here studied any chinese medicine? herbology?

the mayans are great, I love the crazy cultures of the americas with their pyramids and mushrooms and calendars but what about the indians and the chinese and the cultures of asia, africa and europe...anyone discovered any specifics of mushroom or power plant use in these cultures?

My mother was an acupuncturist for a while, she went to acupuncture school for 3 years and learned all about Eastern medicine. She explained a lot of it to me and it sounds pretty interesting. In some cases its a lot more logical than Western medicine, emphasizing such things as balance between extremes, prevention, and strengthening the body's own defenses again disease. It is something that is gaining a lot more acceptance in the West and it is even starting to be covered on some health plans.
