Ego loss

I'm curious to know what causes the ego loss when taking shrooms? And if anyone could give some tips on controlling yourself from completely losing your ego during a trip that would help a lot. Me and my friends recently took shrooms and my friend was having a wonderful time and loving it and couldnt stop laughing for a good 5 mins straight when he went outside the car to piss thats when things started to turn bad, he just kept complaining about thought loops and weird shit in his mind. We got some niacin from the store and that killed his trip pretty quick and everything was good after that except he had very little memory of the bad part and says it felt like he was possessed and it wasnt himself. We had to explain what happened to him a few times because he would forget what happened about 10mins after we told him. He really wants to trip again but he is kinda worried that it will happen again. That night we took a quarter between 3 people and that may have been to much for a first trip for him and if we do it again we will just dose like a half eigth or less and see how that goes and we will be prepared with the niacin just incase it happens again. But if you guys can give some advice on what to do incase he feels it start to happen again and ways to bring himself back from a bad trip would be appreciated.

some poeple just cant handle tripping because their brains are so small they cant tell from whats real and whats not... ego loss can be ecstacy (if your having a good trip) but ego loss only occurs in really high doses, your friend just sounds like he cant handle tripping...

Well he did take atleast 3 grams out of the quarter(since he paid for most of it) and me and my friend had 2 grams each. I think we are gonna try a lower dose for him in the future and see how that goes and maybe we will do a day time trip. He was loving the shrooms until it got to intense. He went into it with the best attitude and was so excited to trip, I just would hate for him not to be able to experience these like I have; I feel it has made me such a better/happier person. It made me realize that I don't need weed and now going weeks without it is nothing. I have a job now and I am planning to attend a Junior college to get my life back on track. Shrooms have helped me a lot and I want my friends to experience how beneficial shrooms can truely be.

Ive never experianced a loss of ego from shrooms. But one time I in the deepest parts of my dxm days, after the 3rd night in a row of a massive dxm binge, I layed in my bed and did not know who i was. I could see, feel, touch and even smell myself, but it was as if i was in an alien body. Talk about scared and confused and sweating! Havnt touched the stuff since.

He has issues he needs to work on. Next time it happens show him some love and talk about what's bothering him if he's ok with that. Do all you can to make him feel safe and comfortable without coming across as feeling superior. Most of us have been down that road more than a few times. It's all about the love

So, why take a thing that is known to cause ego loss, and expect to control your ego and not lose it? Huh? I can't quite seem to get past the immediate contradiction.
Perhaps your friend should learn to roll with the trip. Let those thoughts come and go. They are there for a reason. Perhaps his life is not right. Mushroom trips tap into very deep areas of our psyche. Nothing can be answered by simple posts on this board.
