its not sad and it wasnt lost i woudl bet money that by making it say through Jesus the church became alot more important in peoples lives. How could they control the populace when everything a man needs for salvation he already has...

I believe that the esoteric understanding of 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; nobody comes to the Father but through me,' refers to The Logos, which suffuses all of creation and is the moment-to-moment Source of creation, including the True Self. Unfortunately, the use of the word 'Self' is too often confused with the meaning of 'ego' - the psychological sense of individuality - the yogic 'ahamkara.' The Logos is the 'Immanence' of God (vs. God's 'Transcendence' - the Father). Thus, one must first identify with the Logos before one is spiritually capable of complete transcendence. The Logos (the 'mind of Christ,' i.e., Christ Consiousness) is known through the continuous 'crucifixion' of one's ego/self, which results in humility.

The same idea expressed in Tibetan Buddhist deity images like Mahakala, waving the sword of discrimination which cuts at the roots of delusion. Crucifixion of the ego is reading the symbolic meaning of the Christ's execution: suspended on the cross of existence - between Heaven and Earth, between the Good [thief] and the Evil [thief], between Life and Death, etc. In other words, to live in Christ is to live in a Conjunctio Oppositorum - a Union of Opposites (crucifixion paintings often interpret the 'darkness' at Christ's death as a solar eclipse - Sun and Moon being THE expression of the Conjunctio. That would be to live in the colorless Spirit beteen darkness and light, pleasure and pain. The individual perspective, the 'ego' identifies itself with the opposites and is about minimizing one (say, pain) and maximizing the other (pleasure). The preoccupation of such moment-to-moment pursuit is what selfishness consists in, so its opposite - selflessness - consists in cutting at the roots of selfish desire. Selflessness is humility, it is 'kenosis' - self-emptying. It is the killing of self on the cross of the opposites. Existence yeilds to Essence.

Christ is not something outside of oneself which one must worship and obey. Rather, it is a potential within all of us. I often spend several minutes each day in meditative prayer, trying to cultivate the Christ mind.

To have Christ consciousness is to be the friend of Christ by imitating his love for others.

The ego is crucified in obedience to Truth/Christ (I am the Way the Truth and the Life). But Obedience to Truth does not render one a slave, it makes him a friend of truth, and the truth will set you free.

Through him, be like him. How is it different. Be Jesus WWJD, etc.
Mass religion is Chakra control if you think about it. The spectrum of our being torn and categorized.
Thus I embrace a balance of all healthy religions and attune into whatever the earth says to feel like. Christ, Nature, Humanity are all my religions.

It always seemed obvious to me that nobody could judge oneself so well as themself. No judgement could be so damning as self judgement. So also forgiveness. If you forgive then you have the whole teaching in yourself. All I met of Jesus himself is the Apocalypse. Otherwise not there at all for me. I think he was teaching something different from the Bible. Like true gnosis including the Sophia and Body is Temple and so on.... That is all apocrypha....
