No I dont think that we would be retarded. I have seen storys on tv about a girl who was raped by her dad and had three kids by him and all of them were perfectly helthy. I think that retardation is a myth created by christians/chatolics.

Inbreeding eventually leads to infertility.

DNKYD, you might want to freshen up on your biology studies. It's true that inbreeding can be harmful in the short term, but it's less harmful the further down the line you go. Breeding with your immediate relatives is most harmful, followed by breeding with your first cousins. Anything beyond second cousins is not very harmful. Please educate yourself yourself before spewing such ignorance.

Also, inbreeding does not lead to infertility. The problem with inbreeding is the lack of genetic diversity.

Religion is just antique science. At the time, it was humanity's best explanation for reproduction, eclipses, tornados, rain, plagues, floods, poor harvests, etc., etc. Science has advanced and now religion explains an ever-vanishing amount of our world. Of course, science will never explain everything so I guess we'll have people continue to believe in invisible cloud beings until the end of time.

what is there to miss out on if we can eat them any time we like???

<<Science has advanced and now religion explains an ever-vanishing amount of our world.>>

Ok - you sir, are obviously no scientist. There are, in fact in fine, more holes and bullshit in science than you know. There are HUGE holes in darwin that science is still seeking the answers to.
It seems you are like those christians who are so exhausting to people - you say something that is not at all true, yet use it to wipe away efforts at truth.

<<Science has advanced and now religion explains an ever-vanishing amount of our world.>>
That is so utterly incorrect, scientifically speaking.....

Hey! What do you know about Arkansas? Did YOUR State give us the psilocybe medicine thread???
...and scientifically speaking - what about the "scientific" thing regarding "mitochondrial eve" - of whom we in these times possess her DNA?
There's more to the picture than meets the eye it seems...scientifically speaking...

Turning to Christ can indeed change one's heart, as it seems to have done for your friend. That's what it did for me. Unfortunately, some people seem to think that accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior means you have to swallow every piece of Christian propaganda that's fed to you, as he also seems to have done. When I became a Christian, I didn't stop believing in evolution, nor did I go around trying to push my beliefs onto others, because quite frankly, I don't think either of those things has anything to do with Christ's message. As for the stuff about no drinking, rock music, gambling, etc., that's bullshit. It was during an acid trip that Christ revealed himself to me, so why would he condemn the same activities which turned me towards him? You just need to take things in moderation. I don't believe that Christianity is for everyone. I think it is one of many paths to God. Jesus said, "He who is not against me is for me."(Mark 9:40). So do what you know in your heart to be right, and follow whatever path works for you. Christ does not condemn the righteous man.

Hey thanks a lot man.. And also to all else who contributed positively to this thread, I really appreciate it!

I no longer feel like turning Christian means letting go of a lot of fun things, moderation is the key - right?

How do I become a Christian though, do I need to get baptised (have never been), do I have to go to church every sunday, what actions must I make to feel the presence of Christ?

I'll tell you something though, every time my friend talked to me about Christ, I felt this very enjoyable feeling.. like I didn't need any beer or drugs, I just felt so at peace, so happy, almost like I was on E - except better, and without the rushy heart racing shit.

Thanks a lot though guys, you really shed some light on what I though was a dark topic!

to become christian, just throw all your logical thought and reason and believe in a story. its would be the same thing as converting to a religion where u believed in the lord of the rings as an absolute truth

To you, my friend, I say good luck.

Don't let the shallow people in here who believe they know everything persuade you.

Do what you believe is right.

Pray for understanding and for God to lead you in the right direction.

To everyone: Whether you believe in Christianity (or any relgion for that matter) or not, you can at least respect the fact that some of the people are dedicated enough to live their life for something they believe in. Please respect others and their decisions.

You also have to remember that Lord of the Rings is simply a movie.

This "Story" or the Bible has been around for THOUSANDS of years and it still has the same message (with a few minor translation issues) as it did back then. Something is esoteric about that. That's one thing that strenghtens my belief in that the Bible is true...

Not to mention that the Bible has proved to be historically accurate in almost every situation.

As for reading material:

I'd suggest some of you try reading the book "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel. It's pretty much about Strobel's (then an atheist) investigation of the Bible and it's accuracy. To make a long synopsis short, the man ends up becoming a Christian himself after his investigation. It's a pretty good read.

I heard on tv that the sea level rose over 100 feet so an ice comet could have caused the flood.
