Astral Projection

Iv been extremely interested in the concept of astral projection since i was 11 years old, iv never personally experienced the phenomena, but i have a friend who beleives he has on quite a few occasions,

also after researching this problem my mum had, whereby she suddenly became paralised in bed, then felt a presence in the room and then the buzzing feeling of electricity move from her head to her toes slowly then back up, and shes gets soo scared, but then when it gets to her head again she can move, (i know what sleep paralysis is also so don't worry)

i reasearched it without astral projection in mind as i had forgotten about the phenomena at the time, but it is exactly the stage meant to occur before astral projection takes place, and is meant to be the mind body seperation stage

i just wanted to know what peoples views are, if they beleive that astral projection is possible, what they think it is, and if anyone has experienced it

i thought it should go in this section as it is a psychadelic experience

i don't believe in astral projections as such, but i have had out of body experiences with LSD and ketamine.

i don't know how it works but i think the idea of the soul being something localised in space which can move in and out of your body is absurd. its just another state of conciousness where one percieves one's 'self' to be outside of the body. just like there are states when one percieves one's 'self' to be the body and everything else.

astral projecting is inducing otu of body experiances when you go to 'sleep' its very real, you only need to experiance it to believe it, like many MANY have.

I'm always fascinated with the stories of two people who meet on the astral plane, and exchange email addresses or something, then contact each other AFTER the fact. Meaning it would be a very real phenomenon. Yet that could also just be one of those stories that makes its rounds. Either way, it's cool.

I know the two are kind of related, so I will share my small experience. One time I tried to induce lucid dreaming by working on my dream recall. I also asked myself about 5 times a day, at random points whenever I thought about it, I'd ask myself "Am I dreaming now?". After about a month of doing that, It worked, and I was dreaming that I was standing in my driveway talking to someone, and I asked myself in the dream "Am I dreaming now?" and realized I was. So then I thought "If I'm really dreaming, then I could just blast off right now just like a rocket". And my shoes started shaking and did their rocket booster thing, and after lift off, it freaked me out too much and I woke up. I haven't tried it since. But yeah, lucid dreaming is definitely real. I haven't had an OBE or Astral travel yet. But I'd say they are just as real. That's more probably than thousands of people all corroborating on one big lie.

it used to happen to me when i was younger and i had no control over it. quite often i'd be conciously trying to wake myself out of it because it was a frightening feeling, but unable to do so i'd be floating around the house, up to my parents bedroom, in to the neighbours house and eventually able to snap back into my body.

as i got older and i heard of 'astral projection' i practiced bringing it on, staying calm and controlling it. i did get better at it for a while, but i began to notice inconsistencies between that state and reality, which just brought more confusion. for instance, my draws would be on the other side of the room or the fan would be off instead of on.

to be honest i still don't know what to think of it all. and it seems my smoking habits as a teenager decreased my ability to do it (or even remember dreams, for that matter).

I think there is a difference between a lucid dream & out of body experience.

I think a lucid dream is, when someone awakes he is dreaming and can control the dream... like spawn objects in the room, start flying, etc. But the dream doesn't correspond with the outer reality.

Astral Projection/OBE is (I think) leaving the body with your consciousness. You can fly outside your room, walk through walls, which corresponds with the outer reality I which we all spend our time when we are awake.

This is how I think it is, not sure though. Do know it's possible to have an OBE that corresponds with the outer reality like I just described.




I have one experience which I think was an OBE, this happened 2 weeks ago or something.

I was dreaming I was in a pub with a friend, and I was standing at the desk to pay... and all of a sudden I was 10 meters further than the "pay-desk" talking to people.

So I thought "hmm 10 meters in 1 second & I don't remember paying", and then reality collapsed around me. It was like I noticed a bug in the matrix.

My natural reaction when I know I'm dreaming is becoming awake. I opened my eyes for a millisecond and then closed them and said I will remain dreaming consciously.

It worked my body was asleep and my mind was awake.

I saw what looked like moving gif pictures, flashing cartoony pictures...

I then tried to "spawn" a woman into my dream to have sex with but that didn't work.

Then I thought hmm this weird, not like what I have read of a lucid dream. So I tried an OBE technique and this was visualize a long metal bar going through my chest... and pull myself up without moving a limb.

It worked pretty quick, I was sitting half straight with my upper "astral-body" out of my laying body... and I feel my body reacting strange (or maybe it was my mind). It was like grasping for air or something, but I think it was more my "mind" that was getting a little shock because it didn't have lungs breathing anymore.

Then I relaxed and my lower "astral body" also went out of my body. And me & my astralbody were floating above my body and I was still connected to my body (I could feel this), but I couldn't feel my body as if I was in my body.

Then I tried moving around the room but I didn't really know how. It's like the first time I was swimming, I didn't know how to swim either. Unknown movements  :grin:

After 30 seconds(a few minutes?) my dad came home and made a loud bang with the door, and I woke up.

Too short, but still happy to have had this experience. It was the first time I've had the pleasure. I'm awaiting the next one.  :grin:
