Cultivation Jar Question

Would it be ok if I used, Coffee Cans in substitute for glass jars as cultivation jars??

Im using the The Magic Mushroom Growers Guide
Version 3.2, tek. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

No only because you won't be able to spot contamination or growth of mycelium.

If those cans happen to be clear somehow then yes you can use then, otherwise no.

the only reasons you don't see many people using cans for cake method are that it is impossible to monitor the progress of the mycelium to see if it is contamned or colonized, and that coffee cans are just too big. that big of a cake would likely contam long before colonization could occur. a small can might work, but there are lots of glass and plastic containers that can withstand presure cooking. also, it helps if the container is tapered toward the top, to facilitate easy removal of the cake. this would not be so important if you are crumbling your cakes into a tray and casing it.
