slow mycelium growth (yosterizii)

I got me a free print.. all I could find syringe wise (as of right now im unemployed.. moneys a factor) was a 5cc glass reusable syringe from a friend.. followed er.. the expanded pf tek or watever with PC and all that.. except one factor whitch is starting to dawn on me now is that I used the smaller grain verm.. making my cakes a little bit more sandy.. anyways I did a pint one and silicon sealed the top, being a dumbass I didnt think about the vacume inside so I stuck my syringe in and it sucked 100% of it out into the dry verm layer pretty much.. well its been like 3 weeks and there is no sign of contamination and the mycelium is kinda coming along very slowly.. and its starting to form a ring around the top section and kinda work its way down.. however it is going amazingly slow... after this failure I used the last of my print for another go at it, got a half pint widemouth (the other one is tapered) made a better cake (the other one had some air at the top and had a sloppyness to the dry verm layer) and made it nice and good.. PC'd it up, injected it with 2cc's on each side without the vacume nastyness and im seeing growth move along on it, im not really concerned about the smaller one but what I came to ask is is this usuall for the strain? ahh yes and the temp of my room is about.. id say 80 degrees.. I have heat lamps for lizards and a space heater and shit, it is in semi-direct sunlight through my window though its winter so its been a little dark lately.. also id really like some info on the yosterizii trip, heady?? as potent as shrooms.ca said?? hit you in waves?? and if anyone knows any specialized tips for yos cultivation it would be tight... I used up the last of my print so if I dont get at least 1 shroom off this im fucked for a while..

You could pump up the temp a few degrees :thumbup:

i made the mistake of getting small grain verm for casings... the only problem i got was that when i harvested, there's tons of verm that sticks to the stems  :thumbdown:

In PF jars, colonization is affected by moisture content among other things. 4 ccs of solution in a half pint jar might be a bit much. Many of the teks I've read call for 2-4 holes, distributing 1 cc between them (anyone else back this up?). Basicly, you want to insert the needle and tilt it so the needle tip is against the glass, then squirt in just enough solution so that you can see the water go down the side of the glass. This way you don't have to wait for the mycelium to grow it's way down the jar.

PS: lol on the vacuum, I bet it sucked at the time, but it's making me grin now :smile:
