hey all, 2 days ago i innoculated some jars of rye....they have been incubating at 84-87 degrees....i just checked them and they seem dry.can i use distilled water bring it to a boil them under steril enviroment...add 5-10 cc's to ea. jar(or even steril honey water ) after in syringe and cooled down to room temp.will this cure my dry rye problem?????i have worked with cakes and cased them successfully several times before but rye seems more of a challenge (the right water content per jar) thanks in advance for your help.......
My bet is that it just looks dry - the rye soaks up the water. If you want to check if that's the case you could take a grain out and try squeezing it - if it squishy easily then you know there's lotsa moisture in it ;)
