Too dry Spawn?
    #1387125 - 03/18/03 08:27 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I?ve spawned some straw with colonized rye. The Bags are very dry, and colonization doesn?t seem ( Id ont know) to have gone on in the last half a week. At the bottom of the bags , there are a lot of dry rye kernels, which used to be colonized , but now just seem "dead".
What should I do? What did i do wrong?

sounds like it's moist enough when you cooked it for an hour.
maybe you put your bagt in a too hot place or didn't close them properly and lots of the water evaporated.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can fix this...
Next time you try make sure you close the bag better.

Ive now tried to re-humiditate the bags by opening them and spraying water around the straw-mycelium ball.
I guessed this wouldn?t be much of a risk, as the mycelium is already 65 - 85 % percent finished with colonizing the straw, and so no contams will be able to beat it.
Was this a right decision?
