Rye Problem (dryness)?
    #523874 - 01/17/02 08:59 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

Here's the deal i innoculated 1 pint jars of rye with Eq spores on 1/13 i used 100 grams rye and 110ml water let soak for 12 hour then pc'd for 1 hour. Ok my spores are germinating but the rye looks a little dry, i made some new rye jars up and used 125ml and it looks like this is the correct water content for this rye. My question is can i add 15ml water to the jars that are looking a little dry. I would do this by using sterile water and using a sterile syringe, is this a bad idea, has anyone ever done this?

I?d leave them as they are.
Only when they(or they don?t) colonize will you know which water ratio was better.

I don't see any problems with it other than possible contaminating when you open the lid..unless you are using polyfill or MM filter discs
You could use the dryer stuff to do grain transfers
