not that it could really make a huge difference but...

could you put the polyfil holes along the substrate level as normal, but instead of puting the others towards the top of the container you put them in the lid?



does that make sense? it seems like that would help get slightly better air/gas exchange, no?

I would have to say yes you can put polyfil in the holes. i'm thinking that the air has to travel more of a distance to reach the holes in the lid but yeah it will more than likley be sufficient.

the use of holes is to promote a constant airexchange so that no air becomes stagnant within the chamber. The bottom holes allow for the co2 to escape while the holes at the top bring in the fresh air. Personally the more holes you have in your fc the better the FAE is which means better pinsets.

right. i was just curious why i never saw polyfil holes in people's monotub lids. im about to switch to the monotub and it seemed like a good idea, just making sure i wasnt overlooking something

Because dust filled with contaminants will collect in the filter on top of the lid quickly, and could cause problems.
