Legalizing drugs would cut funds for terrorists!
    #5071007 -

Okay this is an anti-prohibition advertising idea that I just came up with. If we legalize drugs, then that mean that the market will be taken over by legitimate, licensed businesses. The crops can be grown in America (Land o' the Free) and we won't have to rely on foreign (terrorist *wink*) sources of drugs to fuel the American drug market.

even though the whole terrorist-drug link is mostly bullshit, I think this would be a good counter attack.

I like the idea. If they are going to come out with ads stating that an occasional pot smoker is funding terrorism then it does make perfectly good sense to make the case for legalization, to stop that flow of funds to the evil doers.

I would love to see some ads on my TV like that. At the very least maybe it will get some people who are on the sidelines concerning this issue to take a deeper look at it.

Someone should have brought that up at the unrehearsed interview G.W.B. did recently. Methinks something something hillarious would happen.

Anniepoo, the prisons in gitmo are built for terrorists/taliban/muslims. Not drug dealers. Don't try to pass off faulty intelligence! We'll impeach you from the forum.

on a second note I think drugs would be replaced by something like illagal arms sale. If drugs were legalized then I think it would be like the Netherlands were soft drugs are ok but hard are not therefore hard drugs would still be a problem but more $ would be able to go towards the hard drug problem.

the only fautly intelligence here is your contention that the two are unrelated ..the prison-industrial complex profits from both..and if drugs really are funding terrorism..then it means more of both drug dealers and terrorists to add to their market base...

Tell me how the "prison-industrial complex" ala Haliburton is adding drug dealers to their base when they don't make prisons for drug dealers.

first of all..the prison industry is not restricted to haliburton...second of all..it would be naive to assume that haliburtons only interest in this field is at guantanamo...third of all..this is further proof of just how obtuse neocons can be...

What does that mean? Of course its not restricted to Haliburton. That is MY point.

You haven't answered the question. How will haliburton, who is building prisons for MILITARY use for terrorists affect DRUG related crime?

Is Haliburtons only interest at guantanomo? It would be great if you provided a link showing how they build prisons for the local, state, and federal level. Surely you wouldn't assume that they did if you had no evidence as such.

anyone that wasnt so obtuse could have easily answered both ?s...however..since this is not the case..i will humour you one more time ...

Quote:

if..as the govt claims..drug sales really are being used to fund terrorism...then one would expect that more such funding would produce more terrorists.. and if a constant proportion are caught..more market base for haliburtons military prison contracts...again assuming that this is the case..haliburton and other military prison operators have a vested interest in keeping the drug profits available to the so-called "terrorists"...so while haliburtons' interest might not effect drug crime per se..it does have a bearing on drug policy and impedes reforms...

Quote:
The skills to build bases and forward military posts came from Halliburton's expertise in the manufacture of prisons within the US. Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR), Halliburton's subsidiary, is the second largest player in prison design and construction within the US. The prison boom of the 1990s boosted Halliburton.

even if you choose to dispute the link and argue that haliburton currently has no such operations in the US..it is still highly doubtful that haliburton would turn down an umpteen-billion dollar offer to start them.. nor is that unlikely in todays' climate of executive imprisonment...
