I dont think this forum is solely for debate. A better way of putting it, is that, it has the potential for debate. Furthermore, it has the potential, for great debate and discussion.

I was annoyed all day long, and as I look back through yesterdays posts, it shows.
I dont want to (and i dont think anyone else wants to) restrict/prevent anyone from posting whatever they want. I think that the main reason for the split was because of this. Certain people were feeling alienated when they spilled out their inexplicable spiritual phenomena, which then caused a lot of people to not post, or make threads.
So as not to restrict anyones posting, like the people who want to debate, they created the debate free zone known as MRP.
I also dont think that anyone wants the shroomery to be some huge beuracratic network where we fill out 23 forms before posting.

It is my own personal flaw to become annoyed at threads like "becoming". Even right now, chilling, perfectly relaxed, smoked out.... it bothers me.
a good analogy: lets say you are at a party, and you overhear some douchebag gabbing on and on about mushrooms, and about how he tripped so hard after he drank an entire spore syringe.
Now, one part of you wants to go over, and slap this person, while the other part of you says "let this douchebag go on being ignorant".

Im going to stop typing for a while now.... I can feel "everything is nothing, and nothing is everything" clawing its way up the base of my spine. I dont wish to get in that mood.

ok, i thought of a better summation of my point.

While the creator of the "becoming" thread may have a very insightful and valid point, it was worded very poorly. The poster, IMO, did a very poor job of explaining their stance.

Isnt that the whole point of this forum? to share, learn and teach? how are you going to do that by just saying "everything is nothing, nothing is everything".

I think that was the intention when it was first created. But since then, lots of people have come by who don't share that vision. Some of them don't express themselves very clearly. Some of them have nothing especially stimulating to say at all.

Just because someone tries to help you see a situation you're faced with from another angle does not mean they are calling you "the bad guy."

You've devised that there is something to "call them out" on, when there is only an evolving human being, incomplete like the rest of us, trying to grow.

They are simply being themselves and trying to express themselves despite their weaknesses in the art of self-expression.

eh, I guess man... it's up to you, really. For some people, that is ALL this forum is about. For some others still, it's a minor part of this forum. For others still (myself included) it is not at all what this forum is about.

It's up to you, personally, whether or not you choose to approach it that way... I don't consider it a healthy method of approach.

I don't play those games anymore, because I've been down that road and I didn't find what I was looking for.

P.S. To be quite frank, there will ALWAYS be something to call EVERYONE out on if you want to judge people. In my opinion, It's not worth the energy.

I believe it takes a lot of arrogance to think oneself so much better than others that it would be his place to pass that judgement.

I think each person should worry more about what's wrong with themselves and less about what others are doing wrong.

Just my opinion... take it or leave it.

I am in no way from camp Swami, where my sole purpose is to question and attack others ideas. Go look at my stats and see how many threads i have started in here.

I love the term "i only stated my opinion on the matter"... it sounds so benevolent. A much nicer way of saying "here is what i think, and why you are an idiot because of it."

You're not a bad guy.  You're just unhappy because your expecations have not been met.  It's not realistic to expect this forum to match the standards you have for it.  The solution is to change your expectations so that they better accord with what this forum actually is.  If your expectations of this forum match it's actual content, you will never be disappointed with it.

Personally, I agree with you that a good portion of the content here is rather empty or directionless.  That's okay, though.  I just don't post in those threads.  As for the people participating in those threads, they're okay too.  That's where they're at right now.  For them, their discussion might be quite profound and full of important and valid lessons.  Who am I to stand above that?

If the day comes that I have nothing more to contribute or gain from posting here, I will simply disappear.  It's happened a few times.  Circumstances changed, though, and I came back.  Maybe I'll be gone again tommorow.  That's life!  :smile:

Again, you're making very bold assumptions and reading too deeply into my words.

I mean, seriously, look at what you're saying. Do you really think that I think you're an idiot? Do you think I'm a malicious person with intent to hurt you somehow? Much less through ridiculously subtle subconscious messages sent through other messages?

I think you're letting your emotions cloud your reasoning.

Look at my posts in this thread... do they really say, "you're such an idiot, this is why you're wrong and I'm right"?

I'm sorry if that's what you take from my contribution here. It was certainly not my intent.

actually, most of that post wasnt directed directly at you. It was more of a musing regarding the often typed "its just my opinion on the matter".

as far as expectations go.... maybe you are right, but I have had some of the most passionate, in depth, cooperative discussions in this forum (old and new), and that is what gave me these expectations.

Its the emporers new clothes that I have a problem with... maybe i should just stop caring that all these people are walking around naked, as they drag the P&S down with gum flapping drivel crammed into vague, pseudo-poetic, hollow statements.

I truly wish that they didnt bother me so, maybe I am an elitist, but i refuse to placate to the lowest common denominator.
